Vanshika Mehta

To never stop creating. One must always be learning and trying new. There's nothing such as right.

 1. Tell us more about your background and journey.

I am Vanshika Mehta. I am a Trained Dancer and a Wedding Choreographer. My Aim is to introduce new wedding dance ideas to the market, also I am pursuing Political Science Hons. from Kirori Mal college, Delhi University.

I truly believe in the idea ‘Dance it out’ I find this l the best way to escape from any problem and I am glad to turn my passion into my only profession.

I have always been a passionate dancer but never planned to take it as my profession. Since I was good in academics, I wanted to do something related to it- maybe a lawyer and so I was preparing for the same but never appeared for my entrance.

2. When did you first decide you wanted to pursue dancing and how did you start?

Dance has always been my favourite. I have been dancing for quite a long time now- Kathak, Kuchipudi, Bollywood, belly dance, Indo contemporary and what not. I had no idea how big our event industry is, The first time I worked as a Wedding Choreographer was in lockdown, 2019. Then, I was sure this is my thing!

3. Who is your favourite dancer and why?

Well, Every dancer has a different style so I can’t really mention any one dancer. I think I learn everywhere, everytime I meet someone new in this field. Even my students teach me so much. I really enjoy my job. Its rightly said- “ love what you do, do what you love”

4. Can you throw some light on opportunities one gets as a dancer?

If you follow this, their is nothing less than the best of opportunities you’ll ever get.

I get to meet new people, working with different age group feels wonderful. Travel and hectic rehearsal sessions is just an add on.

5. Is format training required or can one train themselves purely on the basis of talent?

Who doesn’t like Cherry on the cake? Ofcourse Formal training is a plus! Also its all optional, individual choice. But since there is always a scope of better so I personally feel one must invest some time in proper training.

6. What piece of advice would you like to give to future and aspiring artists?

To never stop creating. One must always be learning and trying new. Theres nothing such as right Age, right time. Follow your heart and you’ll find the way.
