World’s Youngest
Web-Designer
Sreelakshmi Suresh, born on 5 February 1998 is
a web-designer from Kozhikode, Kerala, India. She is mainly
known for her work designing websites in India which gained her media coverage
as early as 2006 who only at the age of 8, became the World’s Youngest CEO. She
became the World’s youngest designer at the age of 3 proving that age is just a
number.
Sreelakshmi was born in in a middle
class family who allowed her to play around with computers when she was young,
in fact very young. The Child prodigy started twinkling with computers at the
age of 3. Started website designing at around same age and had her first
website ready by time she was 6.
She didn’t stopped there; by the age of 11 she had already established two companies, eDesign and TinyLogo. Edesign has got customers from various countries and has already developed about 100 websites.
www.stateofkerela.in is her
personal website which contains all necessary information about Kerala and more
than 10 million persons have already visited the site. She manages another
company Online Pixel, through which she is keen to give education, a top
priority, to the needy.
She works on all her projects only after she
finishes her school work, she clarifies. She shares that her parents and
friends including social media have offered her rock-solid support and she
wants to take her companies to greater and greater heights.
Early Life
Sreelakshmi
Suresh was not born in an affluent family to be
considered as Y-Generation kid with accessibility to all modern gadgets in
fingertips. Though she was born in a middle-class family her curiosity to
meddle with computers encouraged her parents to give hands-on sessions in
computers.
At the age of 3 she learned computers, and by the
age of 6, she could design her first ever website. She has been recognized with
various awards and has started two companies TinyLogo and eDesign at a very
early age.
The daughter of Mr. Suresh Menon(a lawyer in the
Calicut Bar Council), and Mrs. Viju Suresh. Sreelakshmi started meddling with
computers at the age of 3 and started designing at the age of 4 and came up
with her first website at the age of 6.
This girl attends a school called Presentation
Higher Secondary School which was inaugurated in the year 2007 and didn’t have
a proper website. It was Sreelakshmi who took the initiative to design a web portal
to her school and came up with a very good design. Her own startup, eDesign was
launched in 2009.
Sreelakshmi Suresh Success Story
Her first stroke of inspiration came when she realised that her school, Higher Secondary School, didn’t have a proper website. It was then she took upon herself to make a website for her school, this is the website designed by her.
The site was launched on
15th January 2006 by Sri. Binoy Viswom, (former)
Minister of Kerala, Not only was she
recognised by her school for her effort but was duly awarded by her state and
the world.
In an interview, Sreelakshmi mentioned that her father permitted her to use the computer
from her early childhood. She learned English alphabets by typing it on the
notepad. She drew pictures in MS Paint even before joining LKG.
So the computer is her intimate friend. When she was six years old, her father showed her a website designed by a young boy and told her that if she was interested she could also do it.
Sreelakshmi then tried it by using MS Word and then in MS Front Page and
designed her first website for her school. Her website for Bar Council of Kerala,
was officially launched on 20/06/09, by the Honourable Judge, Mr. Kurian Joseph.
The site contains almost all
details required for lawyers including information about more than 35,000
lawyers practicing in Kerala. All prominent newspapers around the world have
published articles about Sreelakshmi Suresh and almost all prominent TV
channels of India and abroad, telecasted her interviews.
An Inspiration to the Youth
Sreelakshmi is not only the
pride of India, but also appointed as the brand ambassador of Info Group. Her
story is a lesson for all of us, who are always looking up in the skies for
help. Her, hard work and confidence is what that is shaping her career.
At such a young age, she has an amazing
clarity on where she is and where she wants to be. The best part about her is
that she is not dreaming about her plans rather she is actually working and
improving upon her skills all the time.
We as people fall in this loop of complaining and cribbing about every little problem we have and this girl is just conquering milestones. Even after so many accolades and rewards, she is continuously working hard to harness her skills and craft. Her optimistic attitude and focus helps her achieve all her dreams.
In this moment of appreciation, I will also like to give kudos to her parents and school, who encouraged her to pursue her dreams her way. Like Sreelakshmi mentions that she is just an ordinary girl and anyone can do what she can but to realise the potential of a 5 year old daughter and to feed her curiosity is the duty of a parent.
