Web3: Future of Internet or Just a Myth?

The Internet is a platform where every person can interact with each other in various forms. In the current generation, no one can imagine even a single day without the internet. Even a child is very much familiar with the applications and functioning of the internet.

But like every other thing, the internet and world wide web also has a history. It also went through an evolution. But the main thing is a new and evolved web called Web 3.0 is yet to come.

What is Web 3?

Web 3 is the 3rd evolution of the web. It is based on the technology of block chains. The main thing about Web 3 is it is completely decentralized.

Being decentralised means it does not have any governing body. People interacting on Web 3 are free to do anything as there is no unit to censor them or to object to them.

Evolution of Web: Development of Web 3

When for the very first time, people heard of the internet and web, they were not sure of it being the baseline of the future. The first version of the Web was the beginning of an era of the internet. Some very basic internet tools like web browsers and search engines were part of Web 1.0.

But, Web 1.0 was just a one dimensional interface. It means that users were not allowed to express their opinions to the world via the internet.

To overcome this drawback, Web 2.0 was introduced. It was also a phase of revolution where not everyone was convinced by it.

Web 2 introduced the interfaces and platforms which were two directional. People were not just getting information from the internet but they were also allowed to tell their views to the world.

Social media platforms like twitter and facebook gained popularity. Streaming platforms like youtube became a common thing. Thanks to Web 2.

But with time, evolution is destined to happen. Human race can never be satisfied with what they have. Hence this hunger of more leads to inventions and developments.

Now, after a decade has already passed, web 2 is also far behind human’s needs. Web 2 also has some drawbacks which call for the need of one more evolution i.e. Web3.

What is the Need of Web3?

Major problem with the current web, Web2 is the privacy concerns. There is someone across the internet who is monitoring everything we do on the web. That central body can control and censor what we write or upload on the web.

It is because when Web2 was initially formed, there was nothing known as decentralisation. Everything was made to be centralised.

For example, if we post a picture on facebook, Certain people are there who are given the right to even remove that post from the web.

It somehow sounds like invading privacy or snatching the right to freedom to express.

Every site, now, asks for the personal details, it means we are not free or independent on the internet. And where there is a need for freedom, there is a revolution, sometimes silently, sometimes violently.

As here we are talking about the internet, revolution is also over the internet only.

How Would web3 Change the Current Scenario of the Internet?

Web 3 has come for a purpose. The purpose is to give the users all what they need in terms of privacy over the internet. Even when Web3 is yet to come, There are certain changes expected.

Decentralised apps are supposed to overshadow every existing app.

All kinds of apps be it social media, gaming, banking, streaming etc. are expected to be available on web3 as well.
Obviously, users will go for the apps which are decentralised.

Hence, those who are not convinced by Web3 are going to be shocked as it is already sure that Web3 is the future.

But is there any group of people who are in any way against the idea of Web3?

Ofcourse Yes, there are certain people who will lose their authority or power if the web becomes decentralised.

People Who Don't Want Web3

It is not a hidden fact how huge businessmen like Mark Zuckerberg and Jeff Bezos are ruling over the internet. In Fact they can even control the entire internet as well. Imagine one person authorising almost every social media app; how much power does he own?

Social media is a part of our life and he can just affect entire social media in a fraction of seconds. This is exactly what a centralised platform means.

So, obviously such people would not be in favour of revolution in the internet.

But what a revolution is, if we don’t have some rivals in the story. Freedom over the internet is our right and we will definitely have it via Web3 only.

So, in any case, you are yet to be convinced about Web3, just make it a point that Web3 is the future of the internet and no one can deny it.
