To me, my page is much more than just fashion and beauty. It’s about the bond that I have with my community and followers. The trust that they put in me and my recommendations are on personal level and I’m grateful for that every day. Having countless brands and products out there, it’s easier to go to a trusted creator’s page and buy the recommended one to avoid trial and error.
1. Tell us about your background and journey.
I’m shreemayi reddy, digital content creator based out of
Hyderabad and I’m mainly recognised as a beauty influencer on Instagram.
2.
What led you to start your page on Instagram and what is it about?
I’ve
been a fashion and beauty enthusiast since my teens. Academically, I’m a civil
engineer and during my internship days, I have realised how important it is to
do what you love and not what you’re told to. It pushed me to take a U-turn and
follow my passion. That led to me creating content around fashion and beauty in
2019 and that was the best decision that I ever made in my life.
3.
How would you distinguish the term blogger from an influencer?
Mostly
influencer, blogger, content creator, digital creator, etc are synonyms but
according to me, blogger is someone who provides information. Information/tips
on fashion, beauty, lifestyle, tech, travel, and everything in between.
Any
known public figure can be called an influencer. Celebrities, politicians, and
any public figure who have fame in their fields are influencers.
This
again is purely my perspective.
4.
Is it financially sustainable to be an influencer today?
3
years into being a full-time creator, I wouldn’t say it is completely
sustainable. Since Instagram doesn’t pay us for creating content, it purely
depends on the paid partnerships we take up with the brands that we resonate
with. Sometimes we do get good coins and sometimes none.
There
is a risk factor involved but it’s worth taking any risk if you really enjoy
the work.
5.
What do you think influences consumer behavior?
To
me, my page is much more than just fashion and beauty. It’s about the bond that
I have with my community and followers. The trust that they put in me and my
recommendations are on personal level and I’m grateful for that every day.
Having
countless brands and products out there, it’s easier to go to a trusted
creator’s page and buy the recommended one to avoid trial and error.
6.
What is your idea of success or your mantra in life?
I’ve
read a quote somewhere and it says “Success is rented, it can’t be anyone’s
forever”
I
think rather than working to succeed, work to experience every single eb and
flow, work to learn every bit in that field, and many more. Just have fun doing
your work, put it that hard work every day, and live the best life by doing
what you love.
Money
and happiness will come your way and that is success to me.
7.
How can someone become a successful social media influencer?
Know
your niche, and create content around it every day.
Follow
some trends and tweak them in your way. Do not lose your authenticity.
Produce
content that is either informative or entertaining.
Create
a community for yourself, communicate every day, and keep learning and
upgrading your skills.
8.
Which is your favorite book and why?
I’m
a huge fan of mythology and mythological fictions.
The shiva series by Amish and the palace of illusions by Chithra Banergee are my favourites. I love anything ancient because their lifestyle fascinates me. The punctuality, Honesty, Dharma, Karma, and all of these are something that I resonate with and I love how people in those eras lived even without the technologies that we have.
