An erudite is a human who has a wide range of knowledge and is well-read, Anne Jakkaphong Jakrajutatip can surely be called an erudite because of her excellent educational background. But she has not just attained multiple degrees she has contributed equally to society.

A Thai celebrity and a media tycoon she has excelled in various arenas of her life. We are in 2022 and a transgender woman has acquired Miss Universe Organization for $20 million marking the first time the beauty pageant organiser will be owned by a woman.

This certainly is progress I believe. Jakkaphong has an undying spirit, from facing bullying in her all-boys school to embracing her identity as a woman she has come a long way.

She has also set up the 'Life Inspired For Thailand’ Foundation to advocate for the rights to dignity and opportunities for transgender people.

The chief executive and biggest shareholder of JKN Global Group, a celebrity in Thailand, starring in Thai versions of reality shows Project Runway and Shark Tank that’s Jakkaphong for you.

What makes her stand out is not just her identity which of course is the reason why people owe her respect but it’s the acceptance of her unique self and the way she has polished her skills and potential to be such a famous personality today. People look up to her dedication and commitment. Now she has even more popularity worldwide as she took over the Beauty Pageant.

"We seek not only to continue its legacy of providing a platform to passionate individuals from diverse backgrounds, cultures, and traditions but also to evolve the brand for the next generation," she said in a statement.

Jakkaphong has discovered and rediscovered herself in the various stages of her life her country Thailand enjoys a positive international reputation, but when it comes to the rights and lifestyles of LGBTQ communities, the absence of a procedure for transgender people to change their legal gender, coupled with insufficient legal protections and social stigma, limits transgender people’s access to services and exposes them to daily indignities, Human Rights Watch said in a report last year.

This definitely makes us realise how Jakkaphong has broken taboos and changed narratives.

We all have our share of struggles in this world and what rejuvenates our personality is how we perceive those struggles.

LGBTQ rights are a very talked-about topic in today’s time and a lot is transforming too. People like Jakkaphong inspire the world and such initiatives and much-awaited events will continue to change narratives around the globe.

LGBTQ- Moving Towards Equality

Change is not easy in a professional environment and it is even more challenging in our personal lives. These days, the significant impact of using preferred pronouns to help the transgender helps them to feel more like themselves and more accepted by their family, friends, and community. Many trans men use the pronouns he/him and many trans women use the pronouns she/her.

Although LGBTQ+ people in every part of the world face marginalization, their human rights have steadily advanced. Transgender people are especially vulnerable to these acts of violence.

Even, many developing countries are at the forefront of the defence of LGBTQ rights. This is due to the greater visibility of the LGBT community in societies that have begun to recognize their rights and are fighting for them.

The LGBTQ population is gradually coming out, so people are discovering that they have a gay brother or son or neighbour or close colleague. The younger generation is much more accepting than their elders.

Positive action is taken at several different levels – local, national and global. International institutions can do is to collect information on the treatment of the LGBT community worldwide.

Increased LGBTQ representation

Countries experiencing an increase in acceptance. Media images can educate audiences and marginalized communities, but when it comes to LGBTQ people, increases in representation are needed to accurately depict these changing demographics.

More than 90% of agencies and advertisers agree that companies can make consumers more familiar with diverse groups of people and break down social barriers through the representation of the LGBTQ population.

Media channels, especially television play a crucial role in changing the minds and hearts of people. According to the year’s report, this year, broadcast networks set a new record with 11.9% of series regular LGBTQ characters on scripted primetime series. This is a 2.8% increase from last year, as well as a significant increase from the previous record high of 10.2% set in 2019-20.

Broadcast is also the only platform this year to ensure that at least half of all LGBTQ characters are also people of colour.
