Different people interpret fashion in different ways. Some interpret it as personal style, some as daily trends while some use it to make conscious choices. People have their own fashion sense based on their style and choice.
Does Fashion Represent Us?
The way we dress often tends to influence people’s perceptions of what think of us. Different clothes give different looks. They define our visual representation and speak of who we are.
If visual impressions matter- dressing to impress is given priority, then define your own personal style. Personal style aesthetics is something that needs to be discovered. Digital content creator, Masoom Minawala says that “you see, personal style is more than just the clothes or accessories you wear. It's about confidence, attitude and how it makes you feel.”
One must discover their own style. We choose our style by selecting the clothes that we feel comfortable in and then we adopt that style in our day-to-day life. Some people keep experiencing different styles based on everyday trends.
Personal Style VS Trends
Trends change every day, but you must focus more on your personal style and then adopt that trend in your own way. Trends should be an addition to your personal style. One should not have a competition with others in order to try a particular trend first. Aad your own spin on the trend and then make it your personal style.
Fashion With A Conscience
The new generation not only advocated dressing up in a manner that celebrates their individuality but is also conscious of buying. These days, customers are more conscious of the brand name, its value, quality and ethics. Sustainability and ethics are big drivers in the fashion landscape.
It is equally important to support small businesses and promote them. Small Indian businesses and designers must be promoted so that they grow on a large scale and earn huge profits like verified brands. It is famously said that fashion fades, but style remains. Even if you are influenced by the latest trends, what you buy and how you style determines everything about you.
Fashion is most often thought of as a global industry that is invested in anticipating what we wear and how we wish to look to others. But fashion isn’t just a business. It’s also a cultural and social phenomenon, driven by the desire for a new change.
Fashion is more of a self-expression, it's not only about displaying wealth but it is about how you represent yourself.
As Miuccia Bianchi Prada the famous Italian fashion designer said “Fashion is instant language“.
Fashion is cyclical. Fashion cycles keep revolving. For instance, what was trendy 10 years back is now trending in the market. You never know what style may reappear. So if you did discard your low-rise jeans, you may be regretting it now – they are back in fashion.
One quality of fashion is that it is not at all constant. It keeps on changing. People keep discarding the old for something new that comes into the market. But there are some clothes which defy all the trends – some classics which will always be fashionable.
Fashion influences us in various ways. Today’s society is obsessed with brands. They first see the brand name and then buy it. Fashion defines a person because it can mainly express an individual’s personality or attitude. Fashion should not necessarily define who we are. However, clothing and accessories can stereotype a person.
Not only do certain styles “define” us, but at times we let brand names define us. It's not about the brand names always, whether you are wearing a local brand or Victoria's Secret, how you carry it defines it all. The confidence that you get while wearing something is more important.
Fashion shouldn’t define us, but it does. Fashion is an ever-growing industry and it gives us the opportunity to share who we are in a multitude of different ways.
