“What happens between me and fictional characters, stays between me and fictional characters.”
Introduction
Book Name - King Of Pride
Author - Ana Huang
Genre - New Adult And Contemporary Romance
Books have always been our friends, whether they are autobiographies, fiction, or nonfiction. But romance novels with grumpy billionaires and strong, sunshine female characters have a special place in our hearts and on our bookshelves too.
They set the bar too high for everything and provide us a world to escape from reality and get immersed in the world of comfort and fantasies.
“I don’t need therapy; I have fictional characters to whom I vent my anger.”
‘King Of Pride’, written by Ana Huang, is an erotic opposite attraction, forbidden billionaire romance, and contemporary adult romance book. It is the second book in the Kings Of Sin series, the first being King Of Wrath.
But King Of Pride can be read as a standalone; though personally, I would suggest reading in order as you will definitely love all the characters in the series.
About The Author
Ana Huang is a New York Times, Wall Street Journal, USA Today, international, and Amazon Bestselling author of young adult, new adult, and contemporary romance, with over 4.5 stars on Goodreads.
Ana, the daughter of Chinese immigrants, started her writing journey at the age of five to improve her English communication skills. She told in an interview that her mother would encourage her to write stories every day, which, in return, increased her love for romance books.
Ana’s books often feature morally grey men, strong female characters with a bit of spiciness, angst, and interesting plots. She is widely best known and popular for her ‘Twisted Series.’ Count me in if you love the Twisted Series too.

About The Book
“Characters can make or break a story. You can have an incredible plot, but if your characters fall short, your story does too.”
King Of Pride features two dear characters from King Of Wrath – Kai Young and Isabella Valencia – as its main characters. Kai and Isabella are two totally opposite souls, but as we all know, ‘opposites attract,’ so they do.
‘She’s his opposite in every way...and the greatest temptation he’s ever known’ – extract from King Of Pride.
Isabella loves writing and wants to be an erotic thriller writer, but she struggles to finish the book as she is out of ideas. Meanwhile, she works as a bartender in an exclusive Valhalla club to make money.
She belongs to an old money family, but not many people know this. She had a dark past that was revealed much later in the book. She had tried and changed many careers but failed at every single one of them. But she is determined to succeed as an author.
Kai Young is an introverted Asian American and a total gentleman. He is getting ready for the CEO to vote for the corporation that he is heir to. Kai is said to be an all-rounder. He succeeds at everything he sets his eyes on, from academics to all works.
Kai and Isabella have steamy and cute banters at the club. They both like whatever is between them but are afraid to open up to the same feelings. King Of Pride highlights how Kai and Isabella, who are two magnetic poles, defy all odds and support each other for the best and how our gentleman Kai makes every single reader go down on their knees.
My View
The writing style of Ana Huang is top-notch. Her writing style is simple yet above the bar. She never misses a single chance to make readers drool over the main characters. The foremost thing I like about her is the instances where other past characters are introduced in the scene.
Though King Of Pride is a bit different from the Twisted Series, the book still has that enigma. I loved how Kai sincerely loves Isabella for who she is and respects her aspirations and helps her to achieve them.
Isabella is not our stereotypical female character. For me, she is the personification of a real-life person. The author beautifully represented the struggles and dilemmas she had regarding her career throughout the story.
I think Ana tries to tell us that ‘It is ok to not be good and perfect at everything or even anything for the time being, but don’t get swept away in this same feeling. If you are trying and trying, then surely you will win’, through Isabella's character. If you love romance novels, then surely reading King of Pride is a must.
My rating for the book is 4/5.
