If you genuinely believe in excelling in this field, start by joining a reputable theater group
1. Tell us about your background and journey.
Hailing from the Shahjahanpur district in Uttar Pradesh, I am the youngest among four siblings. My mother, a homemaker, has been the anchor of our family since my father's passing in 2020. After completing my early education in the village, my academic journey led me to Shahjahanpur, where I seamlessly combined my studies with a passion for theater. From childhood, participating in vibrant stage programs fueled my enthusiasm.
Stepping onto the stage felt like entering a realm where a unique energy and self-confidence surged within me. My theatrical journey expanded as I sought professional training at the Bharatendu Natya Academy in Lucknow and later pursued camera acting at the Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute. Since my arrival in Mumbai on December 28, 2012, my journey has been continuous, with the unwavering support of my family playing a pivotal role.
2. Did you ever think or dream of being an actor?
The thought of becoming an actor never crossed my mind. I believe in an unseen force guiding our paths. Since my arrival in Mumbai, my perspective has evolved, recognizing the significance of actions and destiny. I continued exploring myself as my journey unfolded.
3. How can one approach their career and have the confidence and belief to become an actor?
Before venturing into this field, realistically assess your genuine passion for learning the art versus being attracted to its glamour. Differentiate these aspects honestly. If you genuinely believe in excelling in this field, start by joining a reputable theater group. The path will unfold as you dedicate sincere time to learning and improvement.
4. If not this, what would you be doing?
While the idea never occurred to me, if I were to express recurring thoughts, a conventional job wasn't for me. I would have preferred continuing life in the village, engaging in agriculture, small businesses, and spending time with my family. Acting is the only pursuit that makes sense to me beyond these activities.
5. For a complete outsider with inroads, what advice would you like to give?
Believe in Yourself Maintain unwavering confidence in yourself. Avoid underestimating or overestimating your capabilities. Sharpen your skills because if you excel, people won't easily overlook you. When opportunities arise, ensure you give your best, going above and beyond.
6. What is your mantra of success?
The mantra of Success: Work with utmost honesty. Maintain transparency and integrity in all your tasks, ensuring that your actions are guided by a strong moral compass. Uphold honesty not just in your work, but also in your interactions with colleagues and stakeholders. This commitment to truthfulness fosters trust, credibility, and a positive work environment, ultimately contributing to long-term success and personal growth.
7. Which is your favorite book and why?
In the vast expanse of literature, choosing one book is challenging. Yet, I recommend "Rashmirathi" by Ramdhari Singh Dinkar for the immense courage it provides. The verses from this book shed light on navigating every situation in life.
