Rajeswari Kandregula - Music Teaches Valuable Life Lessons Such as Good Behavior, and Punctuality (Musician / Singer)

While talent is essential, having a solid foundation in music theory and basics can significantly enhance one's performance.

1. Tell us more about your background and journey.

Hello, this is Rajeswari Kandregula from Haripalem Village in Anakapalle district. In terms of my background, I come from a middle class family where my father works as an auto driver and my mother is a homemaker. I have an elder sister who is married and has a beautiful one-year-old daughter.

As for my musical journey, I didn't have the opportunity to learn music from childhood. However, recently I've joined to learn Carnatic music from Modumudi Sudhakar Garu, and I've also been selected to learn light music from Ramachari Garu (LMA).

2. When did you first decide you wanted to pursue music and how did you start?

Growing up in a rural village, I wasn't initially aware of the value of learning music. However, I participated in various competitions around my district. Later, during my bachelor's degree, I had the chance to attend music classes in college.

Although they were basic, they sparked my interest. I've also participated in reality shows like Padutha Teeyaga, Saregamapa, and most recently, Bharat Ka Amrut Kalash, the biggest folk singing reality show.

3. Who is your favorite artist and why?

My all-time favorite artist is S.P.B. Garu. I've grown up listening to his voice, and his voice culture and emotional delivery always create magic.

4. Can you shed some light on the opportunities one gets as a singer?

Being a singer is a rewarding profession, as it commands respect and offers peace. Seeing our name on the big screen brings immense satisfaction.

Additionally, music teaches valuable life lessons such as good behavior, and punctuality, and contributes to good mental health. Opportunities in this field are often unpredictable and depend on timing.

5. Is formal training required, or can one train purely on the basis of talent?

I'm an example of someone who hasn't received formal training. While talent is essential, having a solid foundation in music theory and basics can significantly enhance one's performance.

6. What piece of advice would you like to give to future and aspiring artists?

Believe in yourself and cultivate self-confidence. Practice diligently every day if you have a genuine interest and talent in music. Also, having a supportive family can make a significant difference. Lastly, showcase your talent wherever possible and never stop honing your skills.
