1. Can you tell us a bit about yourself and how you got started with sharing food content on Instagram?
I was born and raised in Delhi, and I'm currently 20 years old. During my first year in college, I aspired to pursue a career in acting and filmmaking. However, due to the limited opportunities in Delhi regarding filmmaking, I decided to channel my creativity through YouTube and Instagram. Initially, I started by reviewing films, but I soon realized it wasn’t something I truly enjoyed. As I explored other genres within digital creation, I stumbled upon food vlogging. This turned out to be a perfect fit for me, combining my love for food with my passion for creating engaging content.
2. Food trends change rapidly on social media. How do you balance staying trendy while also maintaining your unique voice?
From the beginning, I have never been a fan of following trends. My focus has always been on originality, creating content that is fresh and distinct from other YouTubers or influencers. When it comes to my voice in videos, I initially struggled with confidence in front of the camera. To capture viewers' attention, I experimented with altering my speaking style. Although I received criticism for my way of speaking, I continually worked to improve it. Over time, I have become more confident and comfortable with my unique voice, which now resonates well with my audience.
3. What are some challenges you’ve faced as a food content creator, and how have you overcome them?
The biggest challenge for me has been finding new and original concepts for my videos. Creative blocks can sometimes hinder my ability to generate fresh ideas. When this happens, I give myself the time and space to think, allowing new ideas to naturally emerge. Taking breaks and stepping away from content creation helps me return with a renewed perspective and innovative concepts for my videos.
4. What has been your most memorable food experience so far, and why?
It's difficult to pinpoint just one memorable food experience, as each new tasting brings its own unique excitement. Whether the food is exceptionally delicious or not, the act of trying something new always has a certain zing to it. Every culinary adventure adds to my collection of memorable experiences, making it hard to choose a single standout moment.
5. How do you think social media has changed the way people discover and appreciate food?
Social media has significantly expanded people's exposure to a wide variety of food items and cuisines that were previously unknown or inaccessible. It allows people to trust their favorite food bloggers and influencers when deciding where to eat for various meals. However, social media can also create unnecessary hype around average food items. Personally, I've often found that highly hyped foods on social media can be disappointing. While social media has its pros in introducing diverse culinary experiences, it also has cons in terms of creating unrealistic expectations.
6. If you could only eat one cuisine for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?
If I had to choose one cuisine to eat for the rest of my life, it would undoubtedly be Indian cuisine. No matter how delicious other foods are, Indian food is the only type that gives me true satisfaction after a meal. Our spice palate is unparalleled, and the preparation of our dishes is exceptional. Indian cuisine offers such a rich and diverse range of flavors that I can enjoy it for a lifetime.
