Rajneesh Gyani Interview
"I had no money to even buy food, so I worked for another food blogger during COVID—now I’m chasing 100 million subscribers with Are You Hungry."
1. Can you tell us how Are You Hungry started and what inspired you to begin this journey?
Absolutely! Before Are You Hungry, I had started around 5–6 different channels, but none really took off. One day, I randomly decided to create a food blog channel using my own quirky way of speaking and eating. I had a habit of starting things but never finishing them. That’s when my father said to me, “Koi kaam to pura kar zindagi mein.” That one sentence really hit me. I promised myself I’d complete this one and make it big. That’s how Are You Hungry was born—with a dream to become India’s No.1 food page.
2. What were some of the biggest challenges you faced in the early stages, and how did you overcome them?
The biggest challenge in the beginning was finances. I didn’t have enough money to buy food or shoot content. To overcome this, I started working with another food blogger during the COVID period. That experience not only helped me financially but also gave me insight into how the food content world works.
3. How do you decide what kind of food or content to showcase? Is there a particular theme or goal you follow?
I mostly go with the trend. I travel to different places and focus on showcasing food that’s unique or has something interesting to offer. I don’t follow a rigid theme—it’s more about exploring and sharing what catches my eye and taste buds.
4. How has your journey been as a food entrepreneur and Instagram influencer?
Food has this magical power to connect 1.4 billion people across India. My journey has been smooth overall because of this universal love for food. When your content revolves around something everyone relates to, it naturally creates a bond with the audience. That connection has made this journey enjoyable and fulfilling for me.
5. What advice would you give to someone who wants to start their own food brand or content platform?
If you’re thinking of starting a food brand, make sure it reflects our rich Indian food culture. Focus on quality and keep it pocket-friendly. And don’t forget to add your own unique touch in how you serve the food—that’s what sets you apart.
For content creators, consistency and passion are key. Stick to it even when things feel slow. One trick I recommend is to challenge yourself to post content consistently for 21 days straight—it really helps you build the habit and understand your audience.
6. How do you manage creativity, consistency, and engagement in your content?
Creativity usually comes from brainstorming with my friends—we bounce off ideas and try to think out of the box. For engagement, I make it a point to post videos daily and interact with my audience. To stay consistent, I always shoot and schedule videos in advance so that I never miss a day, even if I’m busy.
7. What’s next for Are You Hungry? Any exciting plans or goals you’d like to share?
My biggest goal right now is to reach 100 million subscribers in the next two years. We have a lot of exciting things lined up—some surprises, new formats, maybe even something beyond food. So stay tuned... you’ll definitely want to see what’s coming next!
