"I like keeping things simple in a world where beauty tutorials can often feel overcomplicated."

Q. When did you first realise your beauty content was resonating on such a massive scale?

I think I realised it pretty early on when major publications started featuring my work. My approach has always been a little different; I focus on solving real beauty problems rather than just doing reviews or entertaining.

For example, when I posted a tutorial on how to cover dark circles without caking or emphasising fine lines, it went viral because people could actually use it in their daily routines.

I show step-by-step solutions that anyone can try, and that authenticity seems to resonate. Seeing videos being shared widely and watching my analytics spike is always exciting, but honestly, it’s never been about the numbers; it’s about helping as many people as I can.

Q. How do you come up with new techniques, and how do you test what’s worth sharing?

Most of my ideas come straight from my audience, their questions, frustrations, and requests. I like keeping things simple in a world where beauty tutorials can often feel overcomplicated.

For instance, a cut crease can be tricky freehand, but using a lash curler to stamp concealer makes it effortless. Or my swipe-and-dab eyeshadow technique, which simplifies blending, ended up going viral across social media because it’s easy to replicate yet delivers professional results. I love finding clever, practical ways to make beauty approachable, while also experimenting behind the scenes to see what works before sharing it.

Q. What was it like developing the OFRA x Smitha Deepak collab from the creator’s perspective?

It was an incredible learning experience. Because I interact with my audience every day, I have a firsthand understanding of their pain points, and I wanted to create products that truly solve those problems.

That meant thinking carefully about every detail, formulation, ease of use for beginners, shade versatility from day to night, inclusivity across skin tones, and even how to name the shades so they feel intuitive.

I also considered portability and how the palette would fit into someone’s lifestyle. It’s a constant balance of thinking like a consumer while creating from a creator’s perspective, and seeing it all come together has been deeply rewarding.

Q. Where do you see your brand going in the next few years?

I see my brand growing in multiple directions, more products, long-form content, a masterclass, and hopefully some surprises along the way. I’m working on something really exciting at the moment that I can’t wait to reveal, and I hope it continues to make beauty simple, fun, and empowering for everyone.

Q. If you could do a makeup transformation on any celebrity, past or present, who would it be, and what look would you create?

I’ve always dreamed of creating a majestic Madhubala-inspired look on Madhuri Dixit. She’s such an iconic canvas, and the thought of blending classic elegance with my own techniques to honor her timeless beauty is incredibly exciting.
