Aarushi Vig Interview
Q. To start, could you introduce yourself and tell us what inspired you to start your podcast journey?
I’m Aarushi Vig, the founder and host of Podcast with Aashi. At its core, my work is driven by one belief: every person has a story that can change someone’s life.
I started podcasting because I felt the internet was becoming increasingly noisy, with quick opinions often replacing meaningful conversations. I wanted to create a space where people could slow down, share their journeys honestly, and inspire others through lived experiences rather than perfect narratives.
Today, I have the privilege of speaking with entrepreneurs, educators, artists, doctors, changemakers, creators, and individuals from every walk of life. Every episode reminds me that behind every achievement is a human story worth listening to.
Q. Every podcast has a unique voice. What do you hope listeners take away after each episode?
I hope every listener leaves with at least one perspective that changes the way they think.
Sometimes it’s practical knowledge. Sometimes it’s motivation. Sometimes it’s simply the reassurance that they’re not alone in what they’re going through.
I don’t believe great conversations should only inform, they should stay with you long after you’ve finished listening. If an episode makes someone rethink a decision, start a new journey, or have a meaningful conversation with someone else, then we’ve achieved our purpose.
Q. You've spoken with different guests and explored various topics. What's one conversation that changed your own perspective?
Rather than one specific episode, it’s the collective experience of speaking with hundreds of people that has changed me.
I’ve interviewed individuals who built successful businesses after multiple failures, people who overcame personal tragedies, educators transforming communities, and experts who dedicated decades to mastering their craft.
The biggest realization has been that success rarely follows a straight line. Almost every inspiring person has experienced moments of uncertainty, rejection, or self-doubt. What separates them isn’t perfection, it’s resilience. That perspective has changed not only how I view success, but also how I approach my own challenges.
Q. How do you prepare for an interview while keeping the conversation natural and authentic?
Preparation begins long before the cameras start rolling.
I spend time understanding my guest: their work, their journey, their achievements, and often the challenges that aren’t immediately visible online. That research allows me to ask thoughtful questions instead of generic ones.
Once the conversation begins, however, I try to let curiosity take over. The best moments in a podcast usually come from genuine follow-up questions rather than sticking rigidly to a script. I listen more than I speak, and I allow the conversation to evolve naturally.
Q. In today's world of short-form content, what makes long-form podcasts so valuable?
Short-form content is excellent at capturing attention, but long-form conversations build understanding.
A 30-second clip can show what someone believes. A one-hour conversation helps you understand why they believe it.
Long-form podcasts give people the space to explain, reflect, disagree, change their minds, and reveal the experiences behind their opinions. That level of depth is becoming increasingly rare, which is exactly why it matters more than ever.
Q. What's the biggest lesson you've learned about people simply by listening to their stories?
I’ve learned that you should never judge someone’s life by the chapter you’re seeing today.
Every accomplished person carries struggles that most people never witness. Behind confidence, there are often years of uncertainty. Behind success, there are countless failures.
Listening has taught me empathy. It has reminded me that everyone is fighting a battle, pursuing a dream, or carrying a story we know nothing about.
Q. Have you ever had a guest surprise you with an answer you weren't expecting?
Absolutely, and those are often my favourite moments.
There have been times when I expected a guest to talk about achievements, but instead, they opened up about fear, failure, or vulnerability. Those unexpected answers often become the most memorable parts of the conversation because they’re deeply human.
As a host, I’ve learned that the most powerful moments usually happen when people feel comfortable enough to stop performing and simply be themselves.
Q. What qualities make someone a truly memorable podcast guest?
A memorable guest isn’t necessarily the most famous person; it’s the most authentic one.
The guests who leave a lasting impact are those who are willing to be honest about both their successes and their struggles. They share lessons instead of just accomplishments, insights instead of rehearsed answers, and experiences that others can genuinely learn from. Authenticity always connects more deeply than perfection.
Q. For someone who wants to start a podcast but feels overwhelmed, what practical advice would you give?
Start before you feel ready. Many aspiring podcasters spend months waiting for the perfect equipment, the perfect studio, or the perfect first guest. In reality, consistency matters far more than perfection.
Focus on improving one episode at a time. Learn how to ask better questions, become a better listener, and genuinely care about your guests. Technology can always improve later, but curiosity and consistency are what build a great podcast.
Most importantly, don’t try to imitate someone else’s style. Your voice is your biggest strength.
Q. On a lighter note, what's your all-time favourite book, movie, or TV series, and why does it resonate with you?
One book that has stayed with me is The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. Its message about pursuing your purpose, trusting the journey, and learning from every experience resonates deeply with me. Podcasting has taught me that every conversation, every challenge, and every unexpected opportunity becomes part of a much larger journey. The book reminds me that growth often happens when we stay curious and keep moving forward, even when the destination isn’t completely clear.
