1. Tell me about you and your journey?

My self Harleen Kaur Virdi , I belong to New Delhi , India . I’m pursuing my under graduation in B.com from Delhi University. In 2018, I had become professional makeup artist (MUA) from Lakme academy. My hobbies is playing badminton, A passion for makeup and music and dancing. My strength is to take initiative to work independently, good leadership skill, adaption to any kind of situation. My goal is to become more responsible and acknowledge personality and on respectable position in my freelancer journey. That's all about me!

My makeup artist journey is very interesting though. I experienced  so many things till now. Doing makeup on myself to my mother and cousins, friends and neighbours I enjoyed a lot. Complimented by others give me more power and strength to my work, it’s feel good. 

2. Why did you chose this career?

I choose this as my career because I love working as MUA, With my own skills and creative mind I love to do ready my clients. This allow me to choose my own choice direction and to highlight my capabilities and strength in this career. My present journey had shown me the path to move and attain my objectives.  

3. How can one build a clientele as a makeup artist?

According to me for build a client as makeup artist I suggest that be more consistent to social media with your followers and clients. This will show them that you are someone that is reliable and they can count you. This also put you front of mind when they are needing their makeup done for their next event or referring to their friends and family. 

Be put your More  time in work. As makeup artist we had to do makeup for our clients according to their need and time. If is 5 in morning or 7 in evening we must putting our time to work and priorities to them first. It develop awesome base of clients. Can ho above and beyond to you clients do extra for your clients which gives you regular benefits from clients. Be the best you can be with your clients during makeup process, it’s build a nice impression towards you. And always planned some creative and gorgeous, trustful things towards your client.

4. What are some of your top makeup tips?

According to me top makeup tips are Always start fresh Successful makeup needs to be applied immediately after washing, exfoliating and moisturising your face. The combo of warm water, facial massage and your choice of cream, oil or serum gets things going by plumping up lines, buffing away flakes and hydrating dry or postmenopausal skin. This means absolutely no gaps between cleansing, moisturising and applying makeup. To be clear: You can’t wash your face, eat, check your messages, shop online or talk on the phone, and then pick up where you left off.  Do eye makeup before face. It will give a clean face makeup . No worries of falling of Eyeshadows , glitters to face and give best face base. Use neutral Eyeshadows to accent eyes. Go for glow and brightness, not to more on heavy coverage . Using of makeup brushes or sponges give better result other than airbrush technique which gives less coverage or don’t use your hands over face.

5. What kind of job opportunities one can get after becoming a make up artist?

After becoming makeup artist you can do freelancing according to your comfortable and ability. Makeup artist can work in any own salons and companies like Geetanjali salon etc companies like Mac, Colorbar etc  these companies and salons hire Makeup artist in large numbers . You may become senior artist or junior artist under any famous artist according to your skills and experience. You can grow your position by doing more n more course related to artistry and become at hire place in you career. You own startup your business in this field. Though as makeup artist you have lot of Job opportunities to work. 

6. Which professional courses would you suggest for aspiring artists?

The makeup industry is one that will continue to grow and so will the demand for professionals who specialize in makeup. Those who are passionate about making people beautiful can definitely make a career out of it. There are a lot of things to learn about to become a good makeup artist. You would need to develop and master the art of giving a flawless look to brides, corporate women and others in general. There are various beauty and makeup classes offered by beauty school and colleges  and you can definitely enroll in them for a clirse in cosmetology The academic focus in the realm of makeup can help you develop careers as makeup professionals in films, or television sets.

Courses like pro makeup artistry, makeup techniques and consultation, Hair Styling, airbrushing, stage makeup, course on special effects etc. 

7. Your favourite book and why?

My favourite author is Chetan Bhagat . I have read some of his collection. My favourite one is 2 states, five point someone , one Indian girl , half girlfriend etc. I even love all stories in his books. It’s give another level of Ability to smile, cry, laugh, think and empower me. His books gives magical ability to transport you to a new world for a little while. It’s make us fall more and more in love with each turning page. It gives more knowledge on a particular subject, the growth and development they give And I love them for it .
