Hello, I'm Sonali Boliya from Bangalore. I'm 20 years old and I started as a blogger 2 years back. And now I'm a food, fashion, beauty, and lifestyle blogger as well as a social media influencer. I’m also a freelance PR/influencer marketer, fashion stylist & model.
What led you to start your page on Instagram and what is it about?
My love for food & fashion pushed me to start a blog and Insta page i.e @sonali_boliya now I post more about fashion & lifestyle.
How would you distinguish the term blogger from an influencer?
Well nowadays, people usually misuse these 2 terms without evening knowing it's meaning. They often think that both are the same. A blogger is someone who has a blog/website and writes articles (blog post) about one or more than one topic they have an expertise in. Whereas an influencer is someone who has a huge fan following on one or more than one social media platform. A blogger can also be termed as an influencer. If he or she also has a huge fan base on social media platforms. But an influencer cannot be termed as a blogger if he or she doesn't write any blog post.
Is it financially sustainable to be an influencer today?
I would not rely on it. It’s better to have a primary source of income. And secondary source can be as a blogger or influencer. Moreover, it's not a fixed source of income. There are days when there is hardly any income, for example during the lockdown. And there are times when you get a lot of promotional activities as an influencer,example during festivals.
What do you think influences consumer behavior?
A personal connection with your audience.
Your opinion on Instagram contemplating removing likes option for posts.
Yes, I would definitely support that. Because brands don't see the quality content we put out nor they see the reach /impression per post which is really genuine and way more than the likes per post. They only see followers & likes.
Which is your favorite book and why?
I like Dan Brown books because I’m a fan of mystery and thriller genre. Also, I like The Secret which helps you to have a different perspective towards life.
What is your idea of success or your mantra in life?
Never give up attitude and positive thinking.
