I Never Planned to Be an Influencer - Tori Monaco (Director, Creator, YouTuber)

Tori Monaco

My content has changed quite a bit over the last three years but I have always kept up my core values of authenticity, positivity, and self-love.

1. Tell us about your background and journey.

My name is Tori Monaco, I am 22 years old. I was raised in a super conservative catholic household in a small home town. I always knew I was meant for something bigger and I wanted to go out and explore myself and discover the world.

I moved out of my family's house at the young age of 17 so I grew up pretty quickly. I come from a family of independent entrepreneurs so I wasn’t surprised at how driven I was To succeed on my own at a young age.

2. What kind of content do you create and when did you begin?

Content creation fell into my lap on accident. I never planned to be an “influencer”. I had a video of me go viral and everything kind of spiraled forward from there. What got me into pursuing content creation was all the questions I got asked.

I had so many people reach out to me and say they were inspired by my story, inspired by my ability to live life on my own terms. I wanted to share that with more people.

3. What do you think resonates with your 226+k subs on YouTube?

I was driven by my passion to be authentic to show the world that social media influencers, celebrities, and role models aren’t perfect, we have real-life challenges.

That’s what resonates with my subscribers, I think. I am sure to include all the ups and downs of life in my content. I feel my audience deserves something REAL. The more honest and open I am the more of an impact I have, the more shared experiences I discover between myself and my viewers.

My content has changed quite a bit over the last three years but I have always kept up my core values of authenticity, positivity, and self-love.

4. Who is your favorite creator and why?

I don’t have one favorite creator. But I admire the creators that aren’t afraid to challenge their audiences, that’s aren’t afraid to share their real experiences, and that take the time to really get to know their audience.

5. What is your definition of success?

Success is a difficult word to define. My personal views on success changed a lot this year. It seemed that when I was the most financially successful my personal relationships were failing and I wasn’t successful at filling my heart with passions.

Success is the perfect combination of it all, a successful balance in all aspects of my life is what I strive for.
