What is 5G Wireless Network Technologies?

The world of technology is growing rapidly with full on success. In old times, food, clothes and shelter were the basic necessity of human kind but nowadays it wouldn’t be wrong if we add technology into it.

In morning, the first thing which we get to meet is internet as mobile phones are the first thing we see when we wake up. So if our internet speed is not fast we often got a bad mood as we lack in patience. We don’t want that loading sign for long.

So what’s the solution here?

What is 5G?

5G is next generation wireless network technology that’s expected to change the way live and work. In 5G, it will become faster and able to handle more connected devices than the existing 4G LTE network.

There will be a lot of improvement that will enable a wave of new kinds of tech products.5G network began rolling out in United States and all over the world in 2018 and are still in early days.

Why 5G?

Companies all over the world are competing to have the fastest or largest 5G networks. Everyone country is in a race to be the first one to be fully functional in 5G networks. This is happening because there are so many benefits of having a 5G network.

These 5G networks will fuel the transformation of new technologies. It will not only help users or customers but also the businesses, infrastructure and defense applications.

Benefits of 5G

The main benefit of 5G is the increased speed of internet but there are others perks also. 5G will have greater bandwidth, meaning it can handle many more connected devices than previous ones. It will be able to connect devices like smart toothbrushes and self-driving cars.

5G will also reduce latency- it is the time taken by a cell phone to make a request from a server and get a response. It will virtually come to zero. This will benefit us in communication with cloud platforms like Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure.

How 5G Will Work?

5G will run amazingly over the new radio frequencies, which requires updating radio and other equipment on cell towers. There are three different methods for building a 5G network. It is dependent of wireless carriers like low band, high band and mid band network.

Low Band Network

Low Band Network has a wide coverage area but it is 20% faster than 4G.

High Band Network

High Band Network is of superfast speeds but signals don’t travel well and struggle to move through hard surfaces.

Mid Band Network

Mid Band Network is more efficient as it balances both the speed and coverage factors equally.

For superfast 5G networks, they must install tons of small cell sites about the size of pizza boxes. They can be placed on light poles, walls and towers. Superfast networks are mostly being deployed city by city. Most of them are enabling different kinds of network that will benefit them in both broad coverage and fast speeds.

How Fast the Download Speed Will Be in 5G Networks?

According to the Wireless Industry Trade Group GSMA, the fastest 5G network speeds are expected to be 10 times faster than 4G LTE. Some experts say that it would be 100 times faster.

That speed approximately is able to download a 2 hour movie in just fewer than 10 seconds. If compared with 4G networks, it will take 7 minutes. Well actual speed will depend on number of factors including location and network traffic.

How Can You Use it?

If you want benefits of 5G network then you must have 5G enabled devices. Many companies like Samsung, Huawei, Motorola, LG, OnePlus etc. have released 5G network phones already. Apple is widely expected to release a 5G iPhone later in the end of 2020.

There are some other companies too which are constantly working to provide us with 5G networks so that they can reap the benefits without waiting for nationwide exposure.

Is There Any Drawback Of Using 5G Networks?

There is no such demerit of using 5G networks but it is going to take years for the adoption of 5G networks. GSMA estimates it to be done by 2025 that half of the population will be using 5G networks and half will be using the 3G and 4G networks.

Initial cost for rollout will be higher and battery drainage is another problem with it. Developing infrastructure is another major problem to achieve such high speeds and most importantly security and privacy issues are yet to be solved.

Since many old devices would not be competent to 5G. Hence need to be replaced with new ones and that’s the expensive deal. So there are some hardships but the value of benefits is much larger than it.
