Iraq Sovereignty and the Turkish Attack on the Border

Iraq or the regional battlefield or the arena of struggle for influence in the Middle East.

This has become the state of the present Iraq, Iraq, the country that the neighboring countries feared, became afraid for itself of the smallest groups, the country is struggling to regain a little of its prestige or even to have sovereignty over its territory.

About the State of Iraq

Iraq is located on the Asian-European borders and in the middle of the much-contested Middle East. To the north is Turkey, which seeks to restore some of the prestige of the Ottoman Empire and turn into a regional power that competes with the major powers in the world.

On the east of the Iraqi borders is the Islamic Republic of Iran, which, since the Islamic revolution in the country in 1979, has sought to be a regional and dominant power in the Middle East, and since that date, Iraq has been in conflict with this country, which transformed and changed radically.

Iraqi society consists of many different and divergent ethnicities and religions, and because of these differences and the large number of races, this feature has turned into a curse that Iraq complains about, and every country from the neighborhood seeks to attract a race or sect to it in order to penetrate inside Iraq.

Iraqi Sovereignty During the Ba'ath Period

The fourth strongest army in the world and competing with the great powers for power and influence in the region. This is how Iraq and its personality were during the Ba'athist rule.

The first decision issued by the late President Saddam Hussein was to wage a long war with the Iranians for the sake of borders, power and influence. Iraq had personality and sovereignty over its land, and all ethnicities and sects did not attract the international parties or the support groups present in the Iraqi arena.

Until the fall, Iraq was considered one of the strongest and most stable countries in the region and preserving its borders and sovereignty, which became easy to penetrate and enter and to fabricate what the foreign forces ordered.

Iraq Sovereignty After the Invasion

Followers of the Iraqi affair know what has happened in the country in terms of problems and disasters after the collapse of the previous regime and the entry of US forces and their allies to Iraq.

As it was expected to get rid of the Ba'athist regime, to move to a democratic parliamentary system, and to build an independent and sovereign state, and the new Iraq can protect this sovereignty and not allow other countries to interfere in their affairs or even enter their territories, unlike what we have seen in the past few years.

During the period of American rule in Iraq, Iraq seemed to suffer from the entry of different groups into the country and control over regions and make them areas of influence and headquarters for launching their operations, and these groups were supported by different countries.

And this entry began to interfere in the Iraqi affairs through these armed groups, attack civilians and violate the sovereignty of Iraq, including the Lebanese Hezbollah, which clearly works for Iran in the country.

The Departure of the Americans and the Turkish Attacks

President Obama announced his departure from Iraq, leaving the country in a sea of problems and human disasters, the most important of which is the inability to impose the prestige and personality of the state, the inability to control the land and build Iraqi sovereignty for the country away from sects and ethnicities.

Iraq’s failure to build a sovereignty that preserves its influential position in the Middle East due to the many divisions among the ruling class and politicians affiliated with foreign countries.

Turkish Violations for Sovereignty

After years of fear and fear of an imminent war with Iraq during the rule of the late President Saddam Hussein, Turkey has wandered around Iraqi lands without any coordination or respect for Iraqi sovereignty over its lands.

Turkish air strikes have become the cause of the displacement of dozens of Iraqi citizens from their homes to other areas to escape the bombing The Turkish man who put the PKK as an excuse to bomb civilian areas in Iraq.

The repeated bombing and indifference to Iraqi sovereignty led Iraqi politicians to denounce the matter and resort to the United Nations and other international organizations. Baghdad has also threatened to expel the Turkish ambassador if the bombing continues, yet Turkey is still practicing its military operations in Iraqi lands.

Responding to a Violation of Sovereignty

The Iraqi response was weak to these violations and lack of respect for sovereignty, as Iraq has fragile relations with all countries of the world due to weakness and loss of hope in the ruling class by the international community.

However, according to legal experts, Iraq has the right to go to the UN Security Council and demand that Turkey be punished for Its violations

It is also pointed out by economic experts that if Iraq cut trade relations with Turkey, which are estimated at billions of dollars, it would push Turkey to show some respect and not return to bombing residential areas and Iraqi civilians.

The Iraqis are waiting for their government to show its sovereignty over its lands and put an end to these violations for a country that has lived long difficult years and the new generation is calling for new years and prosperity away from war and displacement.
