It's Imperative To Learn Music, The Deeper You Go, The More You Discover - Padamjeet Sehrawat (Singer, Composer, Anchor)

Padamjeet Sehrawat

Talent is fine, but it's imperative to learn music. The deeper u go, the more u discover the layers in urself. It's an ocean, delve deep. Talent is god-given, the art of music is man-made, so learn, do ur riyaaz, learn 100 ragas at least...

1.Tell us more about your background and journey.

Studied from MNSS Rai and then graduated from Hindu college Delhi. I was a professional cricketer and played in the Ranji trophy for Haryana. Later I was the first runner up in India's hunt for anchors and commentators on ESPN.

Have anchored more than 3000 shows on tv and have done commentary in nearly all big tournaments of the world. IPL, ISL, Pro Kabaddi, Wimbledon, Olympics, Asian games, commonwealth games, etc.......

2. When did you first decide you wanted to pursue music and how did you start?

I was always a singer and I knew since college that music is my forte. The response to my songs in college and school gave me the confidence to pursue music.

3. Who is your favourite artist and why?

Kishore da is, was and will be my all-time favourite. No one comes close to him. From number one to ten is Kishore da. Number 11 maybe Arijit......

4. Can you throw some light on opportunities one gets as a singer?

Opportunities these days are huge if u can compose and create your own music as we do. My music partner Kamal Joshi and I, we compose one song every two days. It adds to the bank. Now u don't have to depend entirely on the labels. U can be ur own label.

5. Is format training required or can one train themselves purely on the basis of talent?

See, talent is fine, but it's imperative to learn music. The deeper u go, the more u discover the layers in urself. It's an ocean, delve deep. Talent is god-given, the art of music is man-made, so learn, do ur riyaaz, learn 100 ragas at least...

6. What piece of advice would you like to give to future and aspiring artists?

My advice to upcoming talents will be, follow ur passion guys, that u can sing is a blessing in itself. Only a select few are privileged ones to have been gifted a singing voice, make the most of it. Learn music, keep learning and keep sharing your knowledge with others.

7. Which is your favourite book and why?

I love suspense thrillers. Don't have any such favourite.
