1. Tell us more about your background and journey.
The ‘journey’ has been amazing thus far with the best upbringing, incredible parents that have been my pillars of strength and support and many more adventures yet to be had.
2. When did you first decide you wanted to pursue music and be
in the entertainment business, how did you start?
3. What do you enjoy more, being a singer, song writer or an actress?
Performing live on stage has a lot of everything in it and that’s my passion.
4. What's your opinion of OTT platforms enabling so many actors to get entry to the world of entertainment? Was it harder for you?
The more the merrier I say!! We have so much talent in our country and these platforms with their non-Bollywood-pushing casting directors have really helped to showcase some amazing talent and give so many more actors work.
I was blessed with my live concerts all through and a few projects on tv and films and later web series that came to me directly. It was definitely tougher then to get acting work.
The downside of so many platforms today is that real talent often gets overshadowed by the mediocre ones doing anything to get “famous”.
5. You have been doing these online shows on Instagram during lockdown. How has the experience been?
Oh it’s been magical. I stopped at a 177 shows out of which 151 were back to back across a 139 days. I grew as an artiste, I connected with amazing people worldwide, I composed so many new songs, I got the opportunity to do my first 2 ad-films as music director and I’m still basking in the love I received.
6. Who is your all time favorite artiste and why?
I have a whole list actually. I am a singer because of Whitney Houston as I learnt singing belting out her songs with her playing off cassette players .I admire her the most for her magic live and her amazing voice.
I have none. I go with the flow .I love music and nothing can ever take that away from me. I have tried to work hard and give it all I’ve got and never let anyone dissuade me from what I’m doing .
If I had to formulate a mantra for this I’d say,
