Madalsa Sharma - Being Ambitious Comes With a Lot of Responsibilities And Duty (Actor)

Madalsa Sharma

Confidence only comes with your determination. It all depends on how ambitious you are at the end of the day because being ambitious comes along with a lot of responsibilities and lot of duties which you need to fulfil physically because  in TV industry or Film industry we should put lot of efforts.

1. Tell us about your background and journey.

I have started working in the film industry at the age of 15. I did my acting course from Kishore Namit Kapoor Acting Institute and then I was offered my first Telugu film, then soon after  I did a lot of films in Telugu Kannada Tamil and soon after that I did Punjabi film. Then  my first bollywood film ‘Angel’ by Ganesh Acharya was launched.

Then I did another Hindi film with Jimmy Shergill called ‘Dil Sala Sanki’, and in the mid of these movies I did a German movie which got me a lot of exposure in the international market. The German film was titled ‘The Girl with the Indian Emerald’.

So that happened and then I did a reality show in Telugu called ‘Super2’, its like ‘Khatron ke khiladi’. I did that too and it was very thrilling experience like you know how the season has been thrilling and crazy with full of stunts and everything. So roundabout I have did 19-20 films as lead heroine. After that came ‘Anupama’ came. So that’s how my career graph has been.

2. Did you ever think or dream of doing TV show?

Well I was always inclined to it. I used to give it a thought because I always believed that TV is a very vast medium.  When it comes to television you are being watched on a daily basis, everyday people are watching you, everyday people get to connect with you and your character, you have scope to perform on a daily basis.

So considering all these factors in my mind I always used to think to get a break in television. I was waiting patiently for it but I was doing my other projects too. At the same time I was open to do television shows provided if I could get the kind of role and the show that I always wanted to start my career on the TV with.

So I was very patient when it came to start my project in TV show and then  came Anupama and when I heard the subject and the concept, I heard the subject  and being a RAJANSHAHI SIR SHOW’S, it was backed up very well. Also my role was something I fell in love with when I heard the role of Kavya.

I really thought that this is something which I should and I must do. I thought that this could be a best debut for me. So that’s when I decided that this is a good role and a very good platform to start my career in television. So hence I picked up Anupama and the journey begins.

3. How can one approach their career and have the confidence and belief to make it on a TV show?

Well , confidence only comes with your determination. It all depends on how ambitious you are at the end of the day because being ambitious comes along with a lot of responsibilities and lot of duties which you need to fulfill physically because  in TV industry or Film industry we should put lot of efforts .

In fact if I talk about only television it’s a much longer commitment compared to movies because there you give a limited amount of days to films and then you can choose the next film you want to do but when it comes to a TV show you are committed for how long the TV show is lasting which takes a lot of energy and efforts. So it all depends how mentally you prepare and how determined you are.

So your confidence depends on all these factors and of course luck also plays a very important role. So I think one has to keep doing what they do and one should do what they are supposed to do. Being confident is an asset which you have and it always pays. Confident is something which you must have because that’s the first thing which comes across to people.

4. If not this, what you would be doing?

I have no clue about that because ever since I was a little girl I have been exposed to film industry since my parents have been in the film line and my mother is an actress herself while my father is a producer, director and writer. I have been seeing the film business and my growing years have been around the sets and everything.

So, I was always inclined towards becoming an actress ever since a little girl because I have seen my mom and I was always very passionate to the kinds of work she did and the roles she played.

So, I decided to be an actress but if I was not an actress then I think I could have probably mastered in dancing skills because I am quite interested  in dancing and I have also tried to learn different forms of dance styles. So I think if not an actress I would have pursued in dance field.

5. Earlier you have worked in film industry and now you are party of famous daily soap on television. So what’s the difference you feel between TV and Film industry?

Both are super professional and thorough off course. But I think films and TVs  have their own charm because when it comes to movies I believe that movies are like books in the library, you can read them, you can watch them once, you can cherish them for lifetime and you can watch them again. TV is like your daily dose of entertainment, so it’s like a newspaper where every morning you open your door and have your newspaper at your doorstep which gives you all the information and all the things which you need to know what’s happening in your daily basis.

So TV is like that. Both are very important when it comes to entertainment at the end of the day. But when you work in TV, as I said it’s a longer commitment it has a lot of hard work, while in films you have less amount of days,  so your work is easy there like you can do one scene or maximum two scenes in a day you are shooting.

But when it comes to TV, they have to submit the episode to the channel and telecast it daily, so that’s why we might end up doing 7-8 scenes in a day.  Like I said TV is such a vast medium nowadays because you have platforms like Hot star and all these digital platform through which people sitting at any corner of world can watch your show and then they give you feedback so now it’s not like that you can watch it only on the channels at the scheduled time, there are lots of options available now.

6. For a complete outsider with no inroads what advice would you like to give?

If you are coming from a place where you don’t have any connections and you are trying to start from zero so first thing you need to be very string mentally. One has to start from scratch pursuing anything in their career.

But especially when here in the film industry there are lot of things where you need to be mentally stronger because rejection happens, there are some people who give you work while some people rejects you also.

So it depends on how strong you are mentally to face the rejections because only if you can face rejections you can last and survive longer in the film industry. So I think  mentally one has to prepare them and rest it all goes as per time and effort and how willing you are to give yourself and doing the work you offered.

But the most important thing for new comers and for people who are making connections is just to be mentally very strong and not let any rejection affect you. That will give you motivation and when you face rejection there is always a chance of overcoming your fear.

7. What is your mantra of success?

  Patience.

8. Which is your favorite book and why?

I am not much of a reader but if you ask me I can say ‘The Secret’. Because the things I have read in the books and also watched the movie based upon it so I really like the way philosophy has been explained in it. It’s very easy to understand and easy to follow also. So yes that’s my favorite book.
