1. Tell us something about your Background and Journey?
I started off as a Video Game Designer in Shanghai working on mobile games. Eventually started photography as a hobby and a way to get me out of the house and explore the city. That hobby developed into a passion that turned into a career.
2. How would you describe your Style in Photography?
Hard to really say. I’m still experimenting a lot. I don’t think I have a style at the moment. Just see what works in the moment and if it looks good.
3. What is the Thought Process before planning a Shoot?
I think about lighting, weather, and the outfit a model will wear before a shoot. It’s important they all tie together to create a cohesive look.
4. What is the most difficult part of working as a Photographer?
Getting consistent income and gigs freelancing, especially during a global pandemic when travel is near impossible.
5. Which Subject or Frame attracts you the most?
I love leading lines and beautiful/unique lighting.
6 Who is your favorite Photographer and Why?
Probably NK7. In Shanghai he was the guy who inspired a lot of the young photographers to get out and shoot and start creating. He’s responsible for a lot of new talent. His work speaks for itself too.
7. What advice would you give to aspiring Photographers?
Never give up on your Dreams. No seriously, never give up. It’s too easy to quit. Keep grinding and think of photography as a lifelong pursuit with it’s own ups and downs.
8. Which is your favorite Book and Why?
Do graphic novels count? If so Neil Gaiman’s “The Sandman” is excellent. Really touches a lot about the different aspects of life and how our dreams turn into reality.
