Feeling Beautiful can be done in so many ways. If you want to do something small like giving yourself an at-home manicure that can really help boost your self-confidence. Another tip to feel better when you are not is to compliment yourself. Look in the mirror and find one feature you love about yourself and it can even be quality and tell yourself that you love that. It’s an instant mood booster.
1. Tell us about your background and journey.
Before I started my blog I was in Biotech. I went to the George Washington University and studied business, moved back to LA and started working with my dad. My father passed away 10 years ago and that’s when my career took a different direction. I went into a depression. My friend then suggested and I started a beauty blog.
Ten years ago there were no blogs, I didn’t even know what a blog was. When she told me I just started and in three months of starting my blog I became a skin care ambassador (it was different to be an ambassador back in the day) for a big brand. That is when I knew this could turn into a job.
I love all things skin care and beauty but I wanted to expand. I rebranded my blog into a lifestyle one. Now I share things about travel, food, wellness, nutrition, recipes, skin care and more.
2. How would you distinguish the term blogger from an influencer?
A lot of influencers do not have blogs. Lots of bloggers do not use social media. I fall into both. I have a blog and a good following on social media. Bloggers curate editorial content and many of them just write. Bloggers can become influencers but a lot of the time you don’t see influencers become bloggers.
It is very hard to maintain both. Bloggers have to write stories and share things that they love. Influencers also share things that they love but share a lifestyle too. They are creating visual content. Influencers are also influencing they way people purchase things. A blog doesn’t always do that.
3. Should food blogging be just a passion or can it become a regular career?
Food blogging can be a career if it is something that you want to do. I know so many successful food bloggers. I think that it starts out as a passion and then it turns into something more.
4. Is there a dish you particularly associate yourself with?
I don’t have one dish that I associate myself with. It really just depends on my mood. I love sushi, white truffle pasta, and then if I miss home cooking I want something like 'ma po tofu' that reminds me of my childhood.
5. What place is top of your bucket list?
I have so many places on my bucket list: Maldives, India, Petra, Egypt, Greece, more places in China, and the list goes on.
6. What can't you travel without?
My camera.
7. Who would you say is your number one fashion inspiration?
There really isn’t a person. My fashion inspiration is very bohemian mixed with high fashion.
8. What are some of your current fashion obsessions?
I love my new MCM bag, I have been buying a lot of resort wear for hopefully some up coming summer travel. I love dresses so I love Zimmerman, Chanel, and anything really feminine. I never have bought so much lounge wear and can’t wait to retire it.

Starting fresh was scary because I chose a name that wouldn’t be easy to remember. Coucou Jolie means 'Hey Pretty' in French. I wasn’t sure how it would it take but I took a poll with my friends and had them vote on their favorite name and I just went for it.
