A beautiful couple, Jane and Ben embark on the journey of their new life by getting married to each other. Both are soon found travelling to Tokyo, where Ben has his greatest dream photography assignment waiting for him.

Unfortunately, driving towards their dream, they meet a nightmare that will turn their life upside down. Jane accidentally hits a girl on the road and hits her car in the woods out of panicking and they both become unconscious due to the strong jerk.

Ben calls the police but to their surprise no dead or injured body is ever found on the hit spot. Both continue to Tokyo and have their first ‘honeymoon memories ‘ clicked although Jane is disturbed that she might have taken someone’s life but Ben convinces her to forget everything as that was probably just an illusion.

Both enjoy their married life but suddenly their happiness turns into a freaking chain of unnatural incidents when they both experience an intangible entity following them. Jane amidst all this excitingly watches her snaps with Ben but finds an unusual appearance in them.

Later it turns out to be a paranormal entity that is stuck with them and appears in every single click and she thinks of the woman from the road as that entity.

The plot takes a whole new turn when the spirit is revealed as Ben’s Ex-girlfriend, Megumi, to Jane and they both visit her house and find her dead body there which is cremated the next day.

But the night is the most dreadful night ever for them as Megumi, after killing Ben’s friends, Bruno and Adam, tries to take Ben with her before her cremation but Jane’s courage saves his life.

The couple returns from Tokyo and everything is normal until Jane comes across something that makes her regret not listening to Megumi’s spirit. The whole story ends on an astonishing note where the evil turns out to be the real victim and the so called innocents are revealed as the real demons.

About the Movie

‘Shutter’ (2008) is a remake of Thai movie of the same name, ‘Shutter’ (2004) portraying the incidents in the life of Jane and Ben when they start noticing a cloudy blurs in every photograph clicked by him which Jane identifies as the girl that they killed in the road accident.

From the producers of ‘The Ring’ and ‘The Grudge’, this movie maintains and in fact raises the level of American Supernatural movies. ‘Shutter’ is really something that totally gives the viewers some really nerve-racking experiences with the power of perfect and aptly balanced visuals that are neither too wretched and nor too extremely fictional.

Although it didn’t get great reviews from the critics, the movie was able to secure the third highest collecting movie soon after its release. Against a budget of $8 million, it grossed $48 million making it a great success and gained a lot of popularity both as criticism and appreciation ironically.
