Mansi Rana - Every Struggle Leaves Us With Learning as We Grow Over Years (Founder - Ez Rankings)

Education does play a crucial role if you are not sure about what you want from life & to further enhance the skill set. However, If one gets the ideas, funds & opportunities, education can go on a secondary track while hustle can take a lead.

Tell us about your background, journey, and upbringing.

I come from a middle-class family with both maternal & paternal sides of the family in business so the business instincts are inherited. Started working in a Sales profile at 19 years & got married at 22, got introduced to Digital Marketing in 2006 & became a mother in 2008.

It was after my daughter was born, I decided that unlike thousands of other working parents, I wanted to break the monotony & be with my child more than the "working span" permitted & that's when I founded EZ Rankings in 2010. I started with a team of 2 people & today we are a team of 107 full-time professionals.

My upbringing has taught me to not live life in pre-defined notions & build my way through whatever challenges get thrown by life & is always a team that wins the war rather than an individual so pick your people wisely.

When and how did you get clarity on what you wanted to do?

In 2009, after my daughter was about a year old, I was done with my regular shifts & wanted more from life for myself & my family. It was also the time when I did work with a lot of prime brands & saw a huge gap between quality promised to quality delivered. Both the points gave me enough reason to get going.

Studies today show that an organization can lose INR 10 lakh (~ $17,000) on average on a wrong hire or for hiring someone with a false degree. The only tried and tested way to prevent frauds is via a thorough background verification process. What does your typical workday look like?

Well, being a hands-on mother & an entrepreneur, I have a busy day. The usual day involves taking care of clients alliances, team updates, reviews, working on new ideas & businesses that we have launched over years, taking care of my kids, ensuring that they have taken their meals on time, studies, home works, etc & last but not the least stay abreast with market trends around investments. Be it Crypto, Stocks, or funding pitches...I have a keen interest in all.

Several global companies have come out and thrown their support behind not needing a formal education. What is your opinion about this?

I honestly have mixed views about the same. Education does play a crucial role if you are not sure about what you want from life & to further enhance the skill set. However, If one gets the ideas, funds & opportunities, education can go on a secondary track while hustle can take a lead.

How do you handle someone who has lied on their resume?

We never hire people who do not value ethics.

What are some of your typical challenges and how have they evolved over time?

Digital Marketing has gained a lot of interest in recent years & there are a lot of grey areas like Identifying quality resources, salary expectations, compliance issues, retentions, etc.

We approach each situation differently & whatever said & done, we do not compromise on our standards in order to deliver the quality clients have hired us for.

What advice do you have for aspiring entrepreneurs or those eyeing the top job?

Be Honest! There are no shortcuts to success. Every struggle leaves us with learning as we grow over years. Also, there should be a balance between work & family life because only then you can be mentally stable & handle the situations that come with work.

Which is your favorite book and why?

There are no favorite books because you learn from every book you read! I was a person can't read one book again so for me, every book I decided to read is a good learning experience.
