Introduction:
Author Name: Nikita Singh
Genre: Romance
Language: English
This book is what I can say is--A piece of life. A breezy-tasteful- yet important one. The one where life brings drama and adrenaline and passion all together in one episode sort of way. This is the story of first love gone wrong and second chances. This is the story of hope and self-healing. This is the story of friendship, love, and trust.
The story revolves around Laila and JD. Laila had a tough past and is still living in its aftermath. She is a no-nonsense type of woman and does not take shit from others. She is independent and as happy as she can be. Time and experiences have made her hard, taking away all her faith in love.
I like the way the author has tried to include many aspects of life without making it much dramatic. About family, work, passion, relationships, and all. There are emotional highs and lows. The passion and love for their work are consistent throughout the story which I liked. But then I think the whole point of the happy vibe bakery essence of the book is to contrast the emotional and dark past, which is portrayed with ease. It goes along well.

About the Book:
Every Time It Rains by Nikita Singh is her latest novel which is another warming love story of a heartbroken girl Laila. The book, Every Time It Rains, was released on 12 Feb 2017; just before valentine’s day.
The book starts well, introducing us to the inner demons of Laila without explaining much. The significance of Cupcakes + Cookies in the lives of Laila and Maahi keeps the consistency, which I really liked. It’s the most important thing for them and they work hard to grow as professionals.
The story of Every Time It Rains by Nikita Singh is about Laila who is hurt and still recovering from a bad relationship. And to divert herself, Laila has dedicated herself to the bakery that she runs. Her dedication pays and she gets an opportunity to go nationwide if she cracks a really important deal.
When everything was going fine, the plot of Every Time It Rains gets a twist and the past of Laila strikes back but in a new face. The second main character of the novel, Every Time It Rains by Nikita Singh, comes into the life of Laila. His name is JD, a careless, free-spirited guy who can’t just keep calm.
Towards the climax, Laila and JD are drawn to each other despite being exactly opposite of each other. Laila has gone through the pain of love and might not trust anyone further but the presence of JD makes her feel the way she wanted to forget. The novel, Every Time It Rains by Nikita Singh, is all about learning to love again with a broken heart and how love has all the power to mend the shattered pieces of heart back together.
Do you dare to fall in love again?
I believe the core theme of Every Time It Rains has been fabricated around the question. Everybody falls in love and many of us are too serious about the relationships. What if for some reason you lose the person? Will you trust another person with your life? Is it possible for you to move on? Will you dare to love again?
I remember reading Can Love Happen Twice by Ravinder Singh and I hated it for how lamely the question was dealt with. I even hated the conclusion. However, Nikita Singh has hit the sweet spot and although not perfect, she deals with the question much maturely.
Please do not read further till you read the climax of Every Time It Rains. The book deals with the evil of marital rape. It exists in our society and the cruel part is that hardly anyone acknowledges it as a crime. However, the inclusion of such an issue was also the only problem I had with the book. I needed more explanation on why Laila’s husband behave that way. They were in love and although Nikita Singh has mentioned why she might have overlooked the signs, it seems somewhat incomplete.
Apart from that, I feel that she has done justice to Every Time It Rains as a sequel. Even though I am a sucker for sad endings, somehow she leaves a reader smiling at the end and I have no problem with that. It falls into place perfectly. “Love stories end on a sad note most of the time in real life, why not give it a positive end in the books where we can control it,” she had said in one of her book launches.

My Review:
“Every Time It Rains” is a title that I’ve been waiting to read for a long time. All thanks to this short holiday period, I finally managed to do it. The beginning was not very catchy to me; I was taking my own sweet time to read. But towards the middle and the end, it had me hooked – that was the part I completed in one sitting. Completely equipped with a warm blanket and mugs of coffee to add to the ambiance, I had a perfect time reading this book.
I especially enjoyed reading it because it had a good pace to it. Every character had a pretty distinguished personality, and it is always nice to have a blend of different perspectives. As for myself, I love when the characters are running on two completely parallel sets of characteristics – it adds color to the story.

Also, the author has been careful of having a good ratio of the visual description as well as the emotional element throughout the book – neither too much, nor too less. Towards the middle-end, it got really interesting because there was a completely unexpected twist.
If you’re into reading romance and light drama as a genre, this is the book for you. It has a whole mix of emotions and a story with twists and turns. It’s not a very regular story, I found it different. The plot is strong but not very heavy.
My rating for this book is 5/5
