Yosmi Trinidad - Keep that Determination and Keep Working Hard! (Content Creator, New York)

There are millions of brands and new brands developing every day that are always looking for content creators to collaborate with. Sometimes it can be tough and it’s not as easy as people may think it is.

1. Tell us about your background and journey.

Hi, my name is Yosmi Trinidad! I am from Bronx, New York but grew up in Westchester County for most of my life. I come from a huge Dominican family. Both of my parents played a huge role in what I do today. They have always been supportive of what I want to do.

I started modelling at the age of 16. At first, I was really shy and I hated taking pictures. My mom signed me up for runway lessons because she wanted me to get out of shell.

Over time I grew to love modelling and I became more confident. I’m so glad my mom encouraged me to do. I always thought you had to be tall in order to model.

When I went to college I stopped modelling for a while. At the time I was so busy with school that I didn’t think modelling or content creating could be a possible career.

I started to hear about all these opportunities people were getting because of social media. I thought that I could grow my social media platform to get more modelling opportunities whenever I wasn’t in school.

I slowly started building my Instagram and it worked! My dms were starting to get filled with Photoshoot opportunities and brand shoots. It also introduced me to the world of content creation.

I had no idea that you could make a living from content creation.

2. When did you first decide that you wanted to create content and how did you start?

I started creating content in 2017. At first, it started off as something fun to build my social media platform. I wanted to build my social media so that I could get more modelling opportunities.

At the time I had no idea that content creating could be a full-time job. After growing my Instagram I started to get tons of offers from brands. I remember being so surprised that brands wanted to send me free products.

3. Is content creation a financially sustainable career?

I think content creating can be financially sustainable. At first, I thought it wouldn’t be possible to make a living off of content creation. I learned that if you’re consistent you can achieve anything you want!

There are millions of brands and new brands developing every day that are always looking for content creators to collaborate with. Sometimes it can be tough and it’s not as easy as people may think it is.

There are times when things can get slow, but if you’re consistent anything is possible.

4. Who is your favourite creator and why?

My favourite content creator is the Murillo Twins. Their outfits are always on point and they are always true to themselves.

They also come from humble beginnings and it’s amazing to see how far they have come. It inspires me because it shows that no matter where you come from you can achieve anything!

5. How and where do you find inspiration to churn out content?

I always find inspiration in music! I always imagine different scenarios in my head whenever I am listening to music.

I think about how I can make the scenario come to life. Whether it’s by creating a dope outfit or making a funny video on Tik Tok. I get inspired randomly.

6. What does your typical day look like?

Every morning I work out, check my email, apply to modelling jobs and then I create content. I love leaving the content creating for last because I am a perfectionist.

I will do a video over and over again until it’s perfect. I also like taking my time when it comes to creating content. I don’t like feeling like I’m being rushed.

7. Which is your favourite book and why?

My favourite book is called “The Glass Castle”, by Jeannette Walls. This book is an autobiography. I’ve read it 4 times and I never get tired of reading it.

It’s about how the author grew up. She also came from humble beginnings and unstable childhood. It shows how far she has come and that you can truly accomplish anything in life.

8. What piece of advice would you like to give to future and aspiring creators?

I would tell creators to never give up and always stay consistent. I know it’s cliché but consistency is key! Don’t listen to anyone that says you can’t do something because you can! Keep that determination and keep working hard!
