Teeshay - Do The Work, Have Faith And Leave The Rest. Enjoy The Process (Actor, TV Host - India,LA)

Teeshay Shah

Teeshay is an actor, tv host, writer, producer and model. So he is definitely a man of many talents.

He started out in the celebrated Indian film industry and landed in Hollywood in 2017 and began a new journey as a performing artist in tv, film and commercials.

He is known for shows like Everest, Gulmohar Grand, Yeh Hai Aashiqui and has acted in movies blood money, the perfect girl and the recently released furry little christmas.

He has hosted for Indian cricket and currently hosts for Hollywire in Los Angeles.

1. Tell us about your background and journey.

I was born in Mumbai. I had to choose between acting and doing my masters in the USA after graduating with a first class degree in computer engineering. I chose the former.

Took 6 months off and groomed myself to be able to become a “complete package” as an actor. Did acting class for 3 months, dance, martial arts and worked on my body.

I had 6 months to prove to my parents and myself that I was at least presentable enough for such a tough profession. With hard work and God's blessings I haven’t looked back since that day.

I’ve done more than 100 commercials, 5 TV shows, and 5 movies, hosted for Indian cricket, taught acting at a charitable organization for underprivileged girls and directed theater in India.

I got an unexpected opportunity to come work here in Hollywood from India as an actor with a great team behind me. So here I am. I am lucky to work here in Hollywood and I feel there are great things ahead of me.

2. Did you ever think or dream of hosting or acting in tv shows?

I knew I would get to act in TV shows for sure. But hosting? No. Not in my wildest dreams. I was very shy in school and college. But the profession of acting gave me confidence, which kept building until one day the opportunity of hosting knocked on my door.

And since then, it's been going strong. I keep improving with my hosting abilities. And I also realized, I love to talk in front of the camera and have fun while doing so.

3. How can one approach their career and have the confidence and belief to make it on a tv show?

I think one has to train first in acting. Then try to do theater(not a compulsion). But training is key. It gives you immense confidence when you keep doing acting scenes everyday in front of 20-30 classmates.

And then once you graduate, these days you keep seeing casting updates on casting director's instagram pages. You get headshots clicked, make a reel and you have somewhere to start.

4. If not this, what would you be doing?

Only this!!! Can't think of anything else. Acting gives me happiness!

5. For a complete outsider with no inroads, what advice would you like to give?

Do the work, have faith and leave the rest. Enjoy the process. Live your journey to the fullest. Don't worry about the result.

6. What is your mantra of success?

Train hard, become capable and have confidence in your ability. And have faith!

7. Which is your favorite book and why?

The Alchemist. The constant theme in The Alchemist is to pursue your dreams by following what your heart desires which echoes so much with my life. I can read the book multiple times and get inspired every time.
