Since the invention of television in entertainment, movies have become a very significant source of pleasure and comfort. Bollywood movies have been known for their plot, genres, family ethics, and values since time immemorial. It gained momentum with Priyadarshan, dharma production movies which established the base of Indian cinema. But what happened these few years when it lost its momentum to South Indian Cinemas?
Reasons To Why Bollywood Is Declining
Coming to the decline of Bollywood movies, all started with the dragging of plots and unrealistic situations. Earlier, the plots and scenes were easier and simpler to understand but with changing times the plots became more complicated and twisted.
Moreover, dramatic expressions are the core of Bollywood movies, in present, these dramatic expressions are exaggerated.
Earlier if there was an emotional scene, people used to cry only in that particular scene or if it was a playful song, people only used to dance or sing and roam around in the song but now, in every scene or song you will see the protagonist crying or dancing.
After a min scene, there is a song which in turn ruins the movie as the director and his crew concentrates only on songs and not the plot which in turn eradicates it. This is one of the prime reasons why movies get flop.
Moreover, the song remake or the reverbs destroy the essence of the movies. Songs of Jitendra like 'naino mein sapna' or songs of Raveena Tandon like 'Tip Tip Barsa Paani' which have been subjected to remix received extreme hatred from audiences. These remix versions of songs not only change the lyrics but also their meaning in due course. Also, the remake of some movies like Jersey, and Kabir Singh from South Indian Cinemas has enraged the audience very much.
Nepotism is a huge factor in Bollywood. The Sons and daughters of famous stars are given more prominence than the outsiders. Many have opened up about this but few choose to stay quiet in the industry to not lose their daily bread. In the past few years, upcoming talents like Kartik Aryan, Ayushmaan Khurana, Rajkumar, Vikrant Massey, Sidhhant Chaturvedi, and Pankaj Tripathi have been given due importance in the industry but their struggle has been a long way to make that position.
Here's To Why South Indian Cinemas Are Preferred More Or Are Going To Be Head Turners In the History Of Indian Cinema
Down to the point why South Indian movies are highly preferred over B'wood? The first reason is because of the plot. Every plot in South Indian movies is very unique and different and also has a meaning to it. Movies like RRR and Karthikey have a wonderful and meaningful storyline about history attached to it and their significance too.
The next thing is about the screening of South Indian cinemas. They have a very strategically planned exhibition of the screening as well as a market which they have already had in South India. This is a heel for Bollywood movies as they need to plan out how to boost their box office and expand their marketing.
Adding another point to it, South Indian Directors understood that after 2 years covid break people want something action-packed and thrilling. They understood this equation and made superhit movies with action, big superstars, and drama which caught the attention of the people.
The other reason is the business standard towards fatigue Bollywood stars and scripts are possibly making the preferences for South Indian movies.
One of the most prominent superstars, Salman Khan acknowledged the fact it is heroism which is attracting or drawing attention to South Indian movies. This act of heroism needs to be inculcated in Bollywood movies.
Another important factor is production quality. Nowadays movies that have more VFX and breathtaking cinematography gather huge crowds.
Conclusion
Lastly, in general, what I feel is that the takeover of South Indian movies over Bollywood is making Indian cinema die. If there is the autonomy of South Indian Cinemas in the coming years, it is quite obvious that the decline of Bollywood is very near. Also, various people are associated with Bollywood for years, for them seeing Bollywood die down in front of them will not only eat up their job but also shatter their love and passion for Bollywood.
The Millennials and generation x who grew up listening to songs of Govinda and Anil Kapoor or Shahrukh khan have so many memories attached to them. All these memories might just fade away with diminishing B'wood. Bollywood is one of the parameters which gives happiness and is being worshipped by many fans.
For them, it would be nothing less than a heart stroke. It's all in the hands of directors and producers as well as their production houses on how they want to make Bollywood progressive and make it a tough competitor of South Indian movies or just doing nothing and letting the B'wood get shattered and destroyed inch by inch.
