Plot:
Stella Alonso is a sweet, shy, and introverted romantic who keeps her heart caged. Despite her social media fame and her career as an influencer, Stella is more of an introverted kind of person who keeps her thoughts to herself rather than letting them out.
In contrast, we have Christian Harper as our male lead, who is a monster dressed in the perfectly tailored suit of a gentleman. He is deadly enough to get his way through the most complicated things even murder and smart enough to hide it.
He has little place for morals in his life and even a little minute place for something such as love. But he stumbles upon a puzzle he wishes to solve but is unable to, the girl of his desires, Stella Alonso.
Their intimacy increases when the threat of a stalker poses and Stella and she has no other choice than to live with Christian. This book touches on some sensitive topics and vivid explanations of stalking and violence.
My Review:
The things which have us swooning over this book are:
- A morally grey hero who can burn the world down for his beloved
- A female lead struggling to make her mark
- Fake relationship arrangement
- Possessiveness
- Sexual tension filled slow burn
- Fluffy-cute moments like the relaxing massages and cozy bubble baths
We had already met Stella in the previous books as a very successful social media influencer and Christian Harper as the cyber security expert under whom Rhys worked and who believes that people in love are "insufferable and pitiful”. Stella and Christian’s relationship is a fake slow-burn arrangement, full of defying and denying each other, fighting the pull, and falling in love with each other without realizing it.
I liked the push and pull, with insane electric chemistry and the point when the pressure finally snaps. From the moment, we meet Stella in book one, we get insanely defensive of her. She’s the quieter and more restrained one of the lady loves and I love that under all of that lurks this woman that won’t ever back down and would fight and stand up for something she truly believes in.
As a fashion blogger, aspiring developer, and social media queen, Stella has a character that she is supposed to uphold at all times. She does anything and everything it takes to make all of her efforts work in her favor. I love how she is impulsive and passionate about everything and focuses on what she’s setting out to achieve.
And then there’s Christian. He’d initially come across to us as a mysterious one when we first met him during Twisted Games and he continues like that in this book. There’s a lot about him that we discover and the hideous face of his job as well as his soul, and as somebody who has never been drawn to innocent-slate icons, I was drawn to Christian dark Harper a lot.
There were some effects that he did that spooked me( believe it or not), but I love how focused he's on those effects. His air of riddle adds to making him an intriguing character as well, which only made me want to get to the root of it all as the story progressed. It was pretty well written. the plot was immaculate. Christian became my favorite twisted man immediately, Stella my relatable queen with a hint of insecurities. We can fairly say that the conclusion to the twisted series was done.
My Rating of the book is 5/5.
It was my favorite book out of all. The fake dating trope is my favorite. And we love Stella and Christian.
