"From battling a language barrier in a Telugu OTT series at 18 to going viral with 20 million views on a dance video, Komal Singh’s journey is a testament to passion and perseverance."
1. Komal, can you share a bit about your journey and what inspired you to pursue such a diverse career?
I’m a 23-year-old content creator, dancer, actor, and fashion influencer from Lucknow, the City of Nawabs. Growing up, I loved experimenting with styles, colors, and capturing my creativity through pictures and videos. Social media gave me the platform to share this creativity, and soon I gained recognition for my unique style, even being the most popular girl in my school.
When I moved to Lucknow for college in 2021, I began creating content more seriously. A turning point was when my dance video went viral, garnering a million views. That gave me the confidence to pursue content creation professionally. My first milestone was collaborating with Max Fashion, and since then, I’ve worked with amazing brands like L’Oréal. My journey has taught me that while life moves fast, staying passionate and persistent is what truly matters.
2. Your accolades include prestigious titles like Miss Antaragni at IIT Kanpur. How have these influenced your career?
Winning titles like Miss Antaragni and Miss Thomson at IIT Roorkee was a game-changer. These moments validated my passion for modeling and inspired me to push boundaries. Judging the same event I once competed in at Lucknow University in 2024 felt surreal and deeply fulfilling.
What keeps me going is the support from students who say my journey motivates them to aim higher. These interactions remind me that success isn’t just about accolades—it’s about inspiring others to dream big.
3. What was the biggest challenge while working on Love Square, and how did you overcome it?
The most challenging part of Love Square was the language barrier—it was a Telugu OTT production, and I had no knowledge of the language or prior acting experience. At just 18, fresh out of school, I took on the challenge with determination.
The team was incredibly supportive, teaching me Telugu on set and helping me rehearse my lines. I also dubbed my dialogues in Hindi, which eased the process. It was a humbling experience that pushed me to grow both as an actor and a person.
4. Your dance videos go viral regularly. What resonates with your audience, and how do you keep your content fresh?
My audience has seen my evolution, and I think that’s what resonates most with them. Dancing was my first creative outlet when I started on Instagram in 2020, and it remains a big part of my identity.
One standout moment was performing at an event, which led to a dance video going viral with 20 million views. That recognition as the “viral girl” from Lucknow was amazing. I keep my content fresh by staying authentic—whether it’s a trending dance, a new creative project, or a relatable moment. Being consistent and genuine is what keeps the audience engaged.
5. How do you manage your time while juggling multiple roles and staying motivated?
Balancing my Mass Communication degree and professional projects has been challenging but rewarding. My professors and peers have been incredibly supportive, helping me manage academics and career opportunities.
The encouragement I’ve received—from professors to students who look up to me—has been a driving force. Staying organized, prioritizing tasks, and having a strong support system have been key to staying motivated and inspired.
6. Can you share details about any exciting upcoming projects?
I’m thrilled about a music video releasing in February—a heartbreak song shot in Dubai with singer Danish Alfaaz. Another project close to my heart is a Telugu series I worked on at 18, despite no formal acting training. It was a steep learning curve, but the experience was incredibly rewarding. I can’t wait for these projects to connect with audiences.
7. If you could collaborate with any artist, dead or alive, who would it be and why?
I’d love to collaborate with The Weeknd—his music has inspired me since I was 15. Among Indian artists, AP Dhillon, King, Honey Singh, and Badshah top my list. I also deeply admire Nora Fatehi for her iconic dance moves and incredible screen presence.
