My journey started about 15 years ago when I first fell in love with cooking. I enjoyed experimenting with flavors, learning new techniques, and creating dishes from scratch. Over time, my curiosity for food expanded beyond taste—I became deeply interested in fitness and how nutrition shapes our overall well-being.
This led me to become a certified personal fitness trainer, where I gained a deeper understanding of how food fuels the body. I realized that sustainable health is built in the kitchen, not just the gym. So, I combined my knowledge of nutrition with my passion for cooking, crafting meals that nourish both body and soul.
That’s how Fine Fettle Cookery was born—a space where I merge traditional wisdom with modern nutrition to create wholesome, flavorful meals that celebrate both health and taste.
2. "Food Alchemy" sounds intriguing! How do you define it, and how does it shape your approach to nutrition?
To me, Food Alchemy is the art of transforming simple, natural ingredients into something extraordinary—both in flavor and nourishment. It’s about understanding how different foods interact, enhancing their nutritional value while preserving their authentic taste.
For instance, pairing certain ingredients can boost nutrient absorption, like combining Vitamin C-rich foods with iron-rich ones to improve iron assimilation. This philosophy shapes my cooking—I don’t just prepare meals; I curate them to optimize health while ensuring they’re delicious and satisfying.
3. There’s a lot of misinformation around food. What are some common nutrition myths you’d like to debunk?
Absolutely! Here are three major myths:
• Myth: Carbs are bad for you.
Truth: Carbs are essential! The key is choosing complex carbs like millets, whole grains, and fruits instead of refined ones.
• Myth: Eating fats makes you gain weight.
Truth: Healthy fats like nuts, seeds, and cold-pressed oils are vital for brain function and overall well-being.
• Myth: You need protein powders to build muscle.
Truth: Whole foods like lentils, paneer, and seeds provide ample protein without artificial supplements.
4. With so many diet trends around, how can people develop a sustainable and balanced approach to eating?
Sustainability comes from understanding that food isn’t about restriction—it’s about balance. Instead of chasing trends, focus on:
• Eating seasonally: Nature provides what we need at the right time.
• Prioritizing whole foods: Less packaging, more natural ingredients.
• Listening to your body: Cravings often signal nutrient deficiencies.
• Enjoying meals mindfully: Food should be savored, not feared.
A truly sustainable diet is one that feels effortless, nourishing, and joyful in the long run.
5. If you had to pick three ingredients that instantly upgrade a diet, what would they be?
Great question! These three can do wonders:
• Flaxseeds – Rich in omega-3s and fiber, they support gut health and heart health.
• Curd/Yogurt – Packed with probiotics, it aids digestion and boosts immunity.
• Moringa – A superfood loaded with iron, calcium, and antioxidants, perfect for daily nutrition.
6. How do you balance traditional wisdom with modern nutritional science in your approach to food?
I believe our ancestors got a lot right—fermentation, seasonal eating, mindful food pairings. I take these practices and back them with modern nutritional insights.
For example, Ayurveda emphasizes cooling and warming foods, which aligns with scientific research on gut health and digestion. Similarly, soaking grains and nuts (a traditional practice) enhances nutrient absorption, which modern studies confirm.
My approach bridges the gap between age-old wisdom and current science, ensuring meals are both practical and nourishing.
7. In today’s fast-paced world, how can we develop a more mindful and joyful relationship with food?
Food is more than just fuel—it’s an experience. To reconnect with it:
• Eat without distractions – Savor every bite, chew slowly, appreciate the flavors.
• Cook more often – The more hands-on you are, the deeper your connection with food.
• Let go of guilt – A treat once in a while won’t derail your health. Enjoy it mindfully!
