Sometimes it feels like walking a tightrope in stilettos — but that’s where I found my power."
1. Can you share how your Dutch-Indian background shaped your creative journey?
Growing up between two cultures taught me early on that culture is currency — and I’m here to invest it wisely. My Dutch-Indian heritage isn’t just a backstory; it’s the blueprint for my sound, my style, and my identity. I infuse the spice of India with Dutch finesse to create something uniquely mine — something no one else can replicate.
2. How do you blend South Asian roots with global influences in your work?
I don’t just blend — I orchestrate. Think of it as a symphony where Bollywood meets Caribbean dancehall and global beats. It’s about honoring where I come from while demanding a seat at the global table. Every track, every frame is curated for impact, elegance, and undeniable swagger.
3. What excites you most about the current wave of South Asian storytelling?
It’s the unapologetic authenticity. We’re finally seeing stories that refuse to be boxed in or diluted. South Asian voices are embracing complexity and power, and I’m proud to be part of a generation rewriting the narrative — with boldness, nuance, and style.
4. What’s the core message behind your new release, “Aag Lagaya”?
“Aag Lagaya” is an anthem of transformation — burning the old self to ashes and rising stronger, fiercer, and unstoppable. It’s a cosmic glow-up where passion meets power. The fire has just begun, and the world better pay attention.
5. What’s been your biggest challenge working across cultures?
Balancing tradition with innovation isn’t always glamorous. At times, it feels like walking a tightrope in stilettos. But I’ve learned that true power lies in embracing both the crown and the edge. It’s a dance between respect and rebellion — and I’m leading it with intention.
6. How do you decide the right medium — film, music, or campaigns — for a story?
The story chooses the stage. If it needs to be heard, I drop a beat. If it craves visuals, I craft cinema. And when it demands cultural impact, I design a campaign. The medium is my empire — I choose the throne that delivers the most resonance.
7. Any unforgettable or funny behind-the-scenes moments from recent projects?
On a recent set, I greeted Jaya Bachchan with a traditional namaste. When she returned the gesture, the whole crew felt it — a quiet, powerful moment of mutual respect. It grounded me instantly. For a girl who grew up watching legends from across the globe, it felt like an ashirwad — cinematic, intimate, and deeply real.
8. If you could collaborate with anyone in the world, who would it be and why?
I’d be honored to work with icons like A.R. Rahman, Shreya Ghoshal, and Jubin Nautiyal — artists who bring soul, depth, and timeless beauty to music. Internationally, I draw inspiration from Beyoncé’s unmatched empire, Pharrell Williams’ boundless creativity, and Burna Boy’s fearless energy. Collaborating across these worlds would be a masterclass in art, culture, and global connection.
When it comes to cinema, I’m drawn to stories that stir the spirit. Working with visionaries like Sanjay Leela Bhansali, S.S. Rajamouli, or Shekhar Kapur would be a dream — their layered, epic narratives are in a league of their own. Rajshri Productions, with its legacy of emotional storytelling, deeply resonates with my vision. I’m especially fascinated by South Indian cinema — rich in cultural texture, grand yet intimate.
On the global stage, it would be incredible to collaborate with legends like Denzel Washington, Jackie Chan, Jason Statham (especially since I’m trained in Taekwondo), Tyler Perry, or Will Smith. Each of them brings an authenticity and presence that transcends borders — that’s the kind of energy I align with.
And yes — if the universe is listening — I will be the face of L’Oréal one day. Because I’m worth it. 😉✨
