Realizing that creativity is a discipline, not a mood.

Q. For new listeners, how would you introduce yourself as an artist, and what emotions do you want your music to evoke?

“For new listeners, I’d introduce myself as an artist who turns feelings into sound.

I’m an artist who cares about connection. Every track I make is a conversation. I want my music to make people feel understood, comforted, and alive.”

Q. With 20K+ followers, how has social media shaped your artistic journey and visibility?

Having 20K+ followers has definitely shaped my artistic journey. Social media became more than just a place to post, it became a real-time feedback loop. It pushed me to grow, experiment, and stay consistent. The visibility it gave me helped my music reach people I never could’ve reached on my own, and the support from the community keeps me grounded and motivated.”

Q. “Mera Wo Pyar” carries strong emotion, what inspired it, and how did the song come together?

"Mera wo pyar" is written by one of my friend and an amazing Artist Himanshu Singh. This is his real story. This song is a confession wrapped in melody. This song came from a real heartbreak , not just romantic, but the kind that comes from losing a part of yourself.

Q. When writing, do you start with melody, lyrics, or mood? And how do you know a song is “done”?

There's no particular method how we make a song. Sometime it's the lyrics. Sometimes we make a beat and write on it. And sometimes it depends upon the mood.

Q. As an independent artist, what have been your biggest learning curves, creative, commercial, or psychological?

Realizing that creativity is a discipline, not a mood. At first I waited for inspiration; now I understand that showing up consistently is what keeps creativity alive.

Q. Which artists or traditions influence your sound most, and how do you keep it original?

I grew up Listening to Kishore Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar, Hoobastank, Linkin Park, Akon, Bollywood songs, and so many folk artists like Nepali folk , himachli folk , Folk music from Uttrakhand.

But I’ve learned that influence doesn’t have to mean imitation. To keep my sound original, I try to: Absorb the spirit, not the style.

Instead of copying their exact sound, I study what moves me about their work, maybe it's vulnerability, repetition, rawness, or experimentation, and reinterpret those qualities in my own way.

Q. What kind of collaborations excite you right now  cross-genre, visual, producers, or live tie-ups?

Mukul Joshi: Lately, I’m drawn to collaborations that push me out of my comfort zone and connect different creative worlds. I love the energy that comes from mixing perspectives that normally don’t overlap.

Q. With YouTube and Instagram driving discovery, how has the idea of “success” changed for musicians today?

With YouTube, Instagram, and other social platforms, success is no longer just about record deals, radio play, or album sales. The landscape has shifted in several key ways.

Fans can discover music directly, often before traditional industry gatekeepers notice it. Success now often means building a loyal, engaged community, not just hitting charts. Metrics like comments, shares, and fan interactions can be as meaningful as streams.

Q. What one piece of advice would you give to someone posting their first song online?

Release it with intention, not fear. It’s easy to overthink or wait for the “perfect moment,” but the first step is simply sharing your work that's it.

Q. If your personality were a musical instrument, which would it be and why?

If my personality were a musical instrument, it would be a guitar.

A guitar can be warm and melodic, or edgy and rebellious, it reflects the versatility in my own character. It’s expressive in both subtle fingerpicking and bold strumming, just like how I navigate quiet reflection and bursts of energy.

The guitar also thrives on creativity and improvisation, which mirrors my approach to music and life: grounded in structure, but always open to experimentation and personal expression.
