Monaz Mevawalla – I Cancel Plans, Lift Weights, and Choose Myself Every Single Day (Actor, Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah)

Monaz Mavewalla Interview

“Fitness is not one day ka josh—it’s choosing yourself again and again, even when no one is watching.”

1. Your journey as a wellness and fitness professional is truly inspiring. What initially drew you to this field?

I’ve always been deeply connected to movement and fitness. I started out as a dancer and was an instructor with Shiamak Davar, which meant long, intense hours of dancing every day. Alongside that, I was genuinely motivated to build a strong body and explore weight training. I truly enjoy the process of going to the gym and lifting weights—and when I started seeing results, it pushed me even further.
I’ve always believed in taking care of my health and body because self-love comes first. Only when you respect yourself and your body will others respect you. The dedication you show toward yourself naturally inspires others. I wanted to blaze my own trail in health and fitness and lead by example.

2. How do you balance your professional life with personal well-being and self-care?

Working hours in this profession are unpredictable and often long. However, as an actor, it’s extremely important to maintain your appearance and overall health. I’m very mindful of my food habits, and whenever I get the time, I make it a point to go to the gym. For me, it’s a complete stress buster.
I’ve even cancelled plans with friends just to make it to the gym. It all comes down to dedication and consistency. Without these, nothing can be achieved successfully. No great milestone is reached without hard work and commitment.

3. There’s a lot of misinformation around fitness and nutrition online. What’s one myth you wish more people would stop believing?

One major myth is that protein shakes are not good for women, and that once you start lifting weights and then stop, you’ll automatically gain weight.
Women actually need a good amount of protein daily because our regular diets often don’t provide enough. When you lift weights, you gain muscle mass—but if you stop training, you lose that muscle, not suddenly gain fat. Everyone should work out, especially women, to maintain youth, strength, and flexibility. Adequate protein and creatine intake are essential to maintain healthy muscle mass.

4. What does your typical day look like—from workouts to content creation and client engagement?

A typical day starts with waking up and giving my doggy baby about a hundred kisses! If I’m shooting, I get ready for work but always carry my gym clothes with me so I can work out after pack-up. If I’m not shooting, I head straight to the gym.
I also plan my day around my dog—taking him out to different places so he can enjoy my time off with me. Bolt is my son, and my entire life revolves around him.

5. You have a powerful online presence. What role has social media played in shaping your brand and outreach?

I only post content that is close to my heart and feels genuine to me. I don’t do it just for views, and maybe that’s why people are able to connect with it. Social media works in interesting ways—one hit show can suddenly make people curious about your life and journey.
Ultimately, it depends on how popular you are or whether your content resonates enough to make you popular. Authenticity always stands out.

6. What has been the most memorable milestone or achievement in your career so far?

Every show I’ve done has been a stepping stone to the next. Each character was different, and I truly enjoyed playing every role. I’ve learned so much along the way, and who I am today is an amalgamation of everything I’ve observed, learned, and absorbed over the years.
In that sense, every show has been a milestone in my growth and learning journey. As far as recognition is concerned, shows like Jab Love Hua, Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin, The Great Indian Comedy Show, and Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah gave me widespread visibility and love.

7. What advice would you give to someone just starting out in the health and wellness space?

My biggest advice is simple—consistency is key.
When you start your fitness journey, it’s not something you do for a few days with full josh and then lose all hosh! It’s a lifestyle you have to commit to for life. Stay dedicated, stay consistent, no matter what the circumstances are. One day, when you look back, you’ll realise just how far you’ve come.
All the very best!
