Ruchi Sharma: Giving My Dog a Voice Changed Everything (Pet Content Creator, With 291K+ Follower)

Ruchi Sharma Interview

“The moment I gave Romeo his voice, everything changed—he stopped being just my pet and became a personality people connected with.”

1. What’s the story behind Romeo coming into your life?

Romeo is truly like a miracle in my life. He came to me a few months after I got married. My husband and I were visiting a friend who mentioned a Beagle puppy. We had never planned on getting a pet, but for some reason, we decided to go see him.

I still remember that moment so vividly—our little furry baby came tiptoeing towards us and climbed right into my lap. Even today, almost three years later, that moment feels magical and indescribable. Right then, we knew he was meant to be with us. That’s how Romeo came into my life.

2. Was there a moment when you realized your videos were really taking off?

Initially, I never planned on making videos of Romeo. But as he grew up, he became incredibly interactive—almost like a human child, listening, responding, and even throwing tantrums! I started recording these moments just to preserve the memories.

One day, while scrolling through my feed, I came across a few pet channels. That’s when I decided to share Romeo’s personality with the world. At first, it was very casual. But the real turning point came when I decided to give Romeo his own voice. That’s when our videos truly started taking off, and I began pursuing it more professionally.

3. What’s something Romeo does off-camera that fans would be surprised to know?

Online, people see Romeo as this savage, mischievous dog who always gets his way—and that is a big part of his personality. But off-camera, he’s incredibly cuddly and protective.

He never goes to bed without at least half an hour of “Romeo love.” Even after meals, he comes to me and showers me with cuddles as a way of saying thank you. It’s the sweetest thing, and you wouldn’t believe it’s the same Romeo everyone sees online!

4. If you weren’t a content creator, what would you be doing instead?

If I weren’t in content creation, I would definitely see myself in the Indian Navy, following in my father’s footsteps. He has been a huge inspiration in my life.

My love for animals also comes from him. Growing up, we rescued many animals—squirrels, birds, cats, and dogs. That experience helped me understand their emotions and perspective. So yes, if not a content creator, I would be serving in the Indian Navy, just like my father.

5. How do you deal with creative blocks or low-motivation days?

Honestly, low-motivation days haven’t been a major challenge for me because Romeo is always right there—he’s my biggest source of inspiration.

Of course, there are times when the response doesn’t match the effort we’ve put in, but that’s part and parcel of content creation. There are highs and lows. In those moments, I remind myself of my purpose—to help people understand the perspective of animals, whether pets or strays, and what goes on in their minds.

For me, it’s not just about creating content; it’s about a bond and a story between a human and an animal. That keeps me going.

6. What’s one thing being a pet influencer has taught you about people?

Being a pet influencer has shown me two very different sides of people. On one hand, there are those who go above and beyond to give these voiceless animals the life they deserve. On the other hand, there are people who are completely indifferent to their existence.

It’s heartbreaking at times, especially when I come across ignorance or negativity. It makes you realize how difficult it can be to change certain mindsets. But at the same time, I receive messages from people running animal care initiatives on limited budgets, asking for help—and I’m always ready to support them however I can.

There are few people truly advocating for these animals, and I want to contribute as much as possible.

7. Do you think Romeo knows he’s famous? What’s your take?

I’m absolutely sure Romeo knows he’s famous!

Whenever we’re out and people call his name, he turns around so gracefully, as if he knows all eyes are on him. He behaves like the star of the moment—calm, charming, and soaking in all the love. He even gives Hi-Fives to his fans!

So yes, I truly believe he knows he’s loved and recognized everywhere he goes.

8. If Romeo had to film a video without you, what do you think it would be about?

If Romeo had to film a video on his own, it would probably be titled “100 Ways to Live Luxuriously Without Your Human.”

He’s quite independent—he likes sleeping alone, eating without anyone around, and doesn’t like his toys being touched. Honestly, if he could, he would probably take himself out for walks too!

So yes, a video about living life on his own terms would suit him perfectly.
