Sharva Yash Bhatt: Rejection is Redirection (Child Performer & Model, 87K Followers)

Sharva Yash Bhatt Interview

SHARVA YASH BHATT

I’ve never felt like giving up, because dance has always made me truly happy.

Q. When did you first realize that dancing was your passion, and what was that moment like?

I’ve loved dancing for as long as I can remember. As a child, I would eagerly learn new choreography from my elder sister, who attended dance classes. Watching her inspired me to start learning as well. Soon after, I joined a dance class and was encouraged to participate in a competition-which I surprisingly won. That moment filled me with confidence and excitement, and that’s when I truly realized that dance wasn’t just something I enjoyed, but something I wanted to keep pursuing as an art form.

Q. Which performance of yours is closest to your heart?

Two performances are especially close to my heart. The first was my very first National Dance Competition in Shimla, where I performed at just five years old. It was a life-changing experience that I will always cherish. The second was in Dubai in 2023, where I had the honour of representing India on an international stage and winning first prize. It was not just a personal achievement, but also a proud moment to represent our culture and art forms globally.

Q. How do you manage school, practice, and social media together?

I wouldn’t say it’s difficult, but my schedule is definitely very structured and busy. Every part of my day is carefully planned so that I can give equal importance to both academics and dance. I’m extremely grateful to my family for their constant support. My mother, especially, plays a huge role-she manages my schedule, travels with me for practices and workshops, and ensures I stay consistent with my studies.

As for social media, I have limited access, and my accounts are handled and managed by my mother, which helps me stay focused on what truly matters.

Q. Have you ever faced rejection or disappointment? What did it teach you?

Yes, I have faced rejection-but I believe everyone does at some point. My mother always says that “rejection is redirection,” and I truly believe in that. It teaches me to reflect, learn, and improve. I focus on refining my techniques and also take time to understand my emotions through meditation with my father. And of course, whenever I feel low, a quick call with my sister-who lives in Switzerland-always helps me feel better and more positive.

Q. What motivates you to keep improving?

Every time I participate in a competition, I love watching other performers. Each performance is unique, and there’s always something new to learn. Observing their techniques and expressions inspires me to improve myself. I’m always eager to learn more and grow as a dancer.

Q. Do you ever feel pressure to always perform well? How do you deal with that pressure?

Honestly, I don’t feel pressured to perform in a certain way. My parents have always made sure that my passion remains joyful and not stressful. I simply try to give my best in everything I do, and if I fall short, I see it as an opportunity to learn and improve.

Q. Has there ever been a moment when you felt like giving up? What made you continue?

I genuinely love what I do, so I’ve never felt like giving up. Dance brings me happiness, and that feeling keeps me going. I don’t think I’ll ever feel like quitting something that means so much to me.

Q. Your profile says it’s managed by your mother-what role has she played in your journey and dreams?

My mother is truly the backbone of everything I do. She manages my studies, dance practices, workshops, and even my NCC training-all while balancing her own professional life. Because of her, I’m able to stay on track with everything, from academics to spending time with family and friends. She is my biggest support system, and I’m incredibly grateful for everything she does.

Q. How do you handle criticism or negative comments, especially at such a young age?

I see feedback as a way to improve myself. Not every opinion matters, and I focus only on what my teachers, parents, and sister say. Their guidance helps me grow. Even if I improve just a little every day, I consider that progress-and that keeps me motivated.

Q. How has dancing changed you as a person, not just as a performer but as Sharva?

Dance has had a huge impact on who I am today. It has shaped how I express myself, how I communicate, and how I carry myself. It has given me confidence, discipline, and joy. Through dance, I feel like I’m growing into a more well-rounded and expressive individual.
