I completed my post-graduation in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopaedics in the year 2018. It was my childhood dream to have a prefix of Doctor to my name. From my school days, I also had a passion towards teaching and hence I have grown in that field for almost 12 years now.
My journey as per say has not been easy, it was challenging in its own way as I never wanted to give up both on my passion (teaching) and my dream (orthodontist). I always tried to balance both.
Hence, I came up with my own initiative and innovative idea in the field of medicine called ODONT ACADEMY OF LEARNING where we are into practicing painless dentistry, in rendering service to people during this pandemic time and to teach the future aspirants.
Here, it gives me immense pleasure to introduce myself as Doctor(Dr.) Chanchal Gupta (BDS, MDS). As the saying goes “WHEN YOU ATTACH PASSION TO YOUR DREAMS, YOU GET YOURSELF CLOSER, TO ACHIEVING IT”.
2. What do you think are the key differences in studying medicine in India and in other countries?
The main key difference between studying medicine in India and in other countries lies in more practical exposure in other countries, while in India it is more theoretical.

The main key difference between studying medicine in India and in other countries lies in more practical exposure in other countries, while in India it is more theoretical.
The cost of studying is higher in other countries compared to India but the duration of the course remains the same. It is also simpler to crack the entrance exam in India compared to other countries.
While we complete our medical studies in India, we can practice only in India while vice versa is not the same with respect to some other countries. While completing medical studies in some countries they provide an opportunity through campus placements while the same is not followed in India.
3. How important is super specialization for doctors?
Specialists are always in demand as they have the expertise, they have better professional practice growth, better job opportunities and better income to sustain and survive themselves.
4. Despite so much talent in India, why do you think people look abroad for treatment?
My opinion is that other countries have better infrastructure, faster technology growth in the field of medicine, better sterilization protocols, insurance claims are provided immediately without any delay,100% care and protection is provided and hospitals are also hygienic.
I also personally believe that people who can afford it look for treatment abroad whereas people belonging to APL (average poverty line) and BPL (below poverty line) still prefer treatment in India as it is comparatively affordable.
5. What is your take on virtual methods of providing treatment?
There cannot be a virtual method in providing treatment in the field of dentistry apart from prescribing antibiotics but on the other hand, it is a useful tool for the doctors (MBBS, MS, MD).

It helps them understand the patient and creates less anxiety in patients. It also decreases the waiting time for the doctor, with rapid consultation as the reports are sent via mails/whatsapp in advance.
6. What impact do you want to create in the medical field?
I want to create an impact and hence I came up with my own academy plans where we not only train the medical/dental fraternity but also train our patients and bring about an awareness about the technology that is driven in the medical field.
In our academy, we also help the dental/medical fraternity develop practical skills and incorporate technology in their practice. I also would like to use a lens of education and innovation to engage and motivate learners to provide the best education and care possible to our patients.
There is no age limit for learning and hence the tagline of my academy says “ANYONE WHO KEEPS LEARNING STAYS YOUNG”.
