High - Profile Gamer Ninja's Twitter Account Got Hacked

 

After acquiring control over Ninja's Twitter account, the majority of the tweets posted were related to hacker's Twitter account promotion, imparting Ninja's followers to go and follow the account @OwenBreh - an account that has since been suspended by Twitter for flinging insults at popular American streamers like Tfue and DramaAlert Host, Keemstar. “Following 5 Who follows @OwenBreh Like and RT when done”, the first tweet read. 

The account of well - known streamer was hacked during mid- day on 22nd February 2020. 

Who Is Ninja? 

Tyler "Ninja" Blevins is the most well known video game player in the world. He was born on June 5, 1991 in Detroit, US. He is better known by his online alias Ninja, is an American streamer, YouTuber, professional gamer and Internet personality. Initially he was a competitive Halo player and has represented top esports teams like Team Liquid and Cloud9, before jumping over to H1Z1 and PUBG, two battle royale titles that came before Fortnite. 

Ninja hopped onto the Fortnite trend shortly after it launched in 2017, which saw his channel skyrocket. Fortnite is an online video game developed by EpicGames. Both Fortnite and Ninja grew alongside one another, with Ninja accumulating two million Twitch followers in the span of around six months when he started Fortnite with just 500,000. 

He wasn't dismayed by his Twitter account hijack at all. Besides deleting the tweets, he posted a video and a tweet punching fun at the hacker. In the video, he blasted all the hackers, that they use same script every time, promote their personal accounts and insult famous individuals. 

However this hijack wasn't the first time for Ninja. Earlier in July 2019, hackers compromised his Instagram account and pushed bogus giveaways. Often hacking of the social media accounts make it clear that Ninja is a high - profile target for the hackers. 

Recently, the official Twitter accounts of Facebook and its messaging app Messenger were hacked and the cybercriminals posted messages from both the platforms.The hacker group OurMine hijacked in the past Twitter accounts of more than a dozen NFL teams in January before the SuperBowl. 

The OurMine group has also compromised Twitter accounts of Google CEO Sundar Pichai, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg and Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey. The group consist of several Saudi Teenagers is believed to have been active since 2016.
