Well, well, well, I knew my previous review of Demon slayer made you binge-watch the entire season and you'll be back to see a review on its movie. Wait, hold on, you have seen the Demon Slayer first season right….. Oh no no no, you have to read my previous review before you begin this one if you want this one to make sense.

Still here, I am not kidding, go watch the first season then come to this. Well, whatever suits you'll be the one who will get the plot spoilers. Anyways, let's review the perfect continuation of Demon slayer to its movie, the ‘Mugen train’.

Before You Begin….

As we saw in the first season, Tanjiro discovers a new move while fighting the lower moon ‘Rui’ called Hinokami Kagura , a dance that was taught to him by his father, a flame breathing technique, which made his water breathing into the fire.

As the Giyuu, the Water Hashira comes and saves them, it spreads out that a demon slayer is protecting a demon, and Tanjiro is presented to the heads of Hashiras. While the Hashira's did not accept Nezuko, they agreed to their master's command, and Tanjiro was assigned a new mission.

As multiple people were disappearing on the Mugen train, Tanjiro, Zenitsu, and Inosuke, after training at Shinobu’s house, had to go there and assist the Flame Hashira- Kyojuo Rengoku.

Story Review

As we see Tanjiro and others boarding the train, they meet up with the Flame Hashira, Kyojou Rengoku. As Tanjiro wanted to know about his Hinokami Kagura, which turned his water breathing to flames, he wanted to go on this mission very dearly. But Rengoku seems to have no clue about it, and despite having different views on Nezuko, he welcomes Tanjiro next to him.

As we saw in the first season, Muzan disbanded the lower moons as he considered them weak who were just getting killed by Hashiras. He spared one lower moon, ‘Enmu’, and asked him to kill the demon slayer who wore Hanafuda, that was Tanjiro.

As the movie begins, we see Enmu’s power as he puts everyone to sleep, and has the all train hostage. Tanjiro and others meanwhile are in their sweet dreams, a reality of myth, from which they must wake up and save everyone on the train and kill the demon.

Rengoku’s fire breathing is a delight to watch and watching Tanjiro and others using constant breathing makes the fights all really interesting.

Characters You Will Love

Kyojou Rengoku -  He is the Flame Hashira, a person filled with passion, and is very strong yet kind. He was introduced in season 1 where we saw him as a loud, confident person who has a strong sense of justice too. He uses flame breathing, is very cool and his backstory shown in the movie and his fight scenes moves us to the core. He is voiced by Satoshi Hino.

Inosuke - He is the friend of Tanjiro who he met in the previous season. He is a loud, rowdy person who believes in killing demons and cutting through everything by brute force. He uses different breathing called beast breathing which focuses on strength too. He is a fun character to watch and is voiced by Yoshitsugo Matsuoka.

Enmu - He is the supporting antagonist of the movie who kills humans on the Mugen Train. He uses Blood demon art- Dream Manipulation and puts his enemy to sleep and manipulates their dreams and destroys their spiritual core. He has a sweet and calm voice, which knows that it will always win as he pities humans for being weak. He is voiced by Daisuke Hirakawa.

The Bottom Line

Well, well, well…, if it's demon slayer, you know what's coming, yup that's right, Animation. A brilliant job by Ufotable studios in its animation and CGI and fight scenes are just lovely. And in the end, let me give you a reason to watch this.

Mugen train was the highest-earning animated movie and was in the top 3 overall movie-earning movies in the year 2020, that's right. The movie was so good, it earned a lot in the Covid period, broke many records, and thus you should be streaming it on Crunchyroll.
