Why Is the Youth The Future of the Nation? - Role of Youth In a Nation's Growth

“Teenagers didn’t always exist. They had to be invented. As the cultural landscape around the world was thrown into turmoil during the industrial revolution, and with a chasm erupting between adults and youth, the concept of a new generation took shape.”

There has always been a linkage between youth and national development. Productiveness and the creativity of the youth population determine the wheel of development of any country. The youth in any society are the building blocks of growth and development as they are the critical masses of people.

For example, half of India’s population of 1.4 billion is below the age of 25, and a quarter is below the age of 14. Therefore, the direct and indirect actions, activities, and values of youth shape the future of the nation.

Youth Meaning

Youth is the early period of existence, growth, or development. It is the quality or state of being youthful. It can also mean the phase between childhood and adulthood. Its definition and interpretation may vary from person to person but the role of Youth has remained appreciatively the same throughout history that is to make a nation prosper in all domains.

The Era Of Responsibility

This era is marked as ‘The Era Of Responsibility’ as the youth of the country are concerned about the problems, difficulties, and areas of lagging faced by its people. They realize the true meaning of development as the ‘development of all’ irrespective of society’s prejudices and misconceptions.

Attributes Of Youth

Youth is the picture of innocence with a mix of feminine and masculine energy. They are keen to learn new and exciting things and technologies and are determined to grow in the field of their interest which was not the majority case in the past. They are also open to coming-of-age changes and are willing to adapt to them freely.

Since they are vigilant, they can help in eradicating the problems like poverty, illiteracy, etc. They are indulged in many great activities and deeds such as voluntarily teaching underprivileged children and providing food and daily essentials to poor people.

The role of the youth is like the survival of a bird on the top of a tree. As the arrival of a bird makes the tree lively, similarly the actions and activities of the youth in the right direction make a country prosper in all aspects whether it is social, economic, or political orders of a society.

Final Thoughts

More than any other group, today’s young women and men will impact how people in rich and political countries will live. That is why a nation or society that prepares its youth for the sake of future aspirations will not only secure future development; but will prepare the next set of leaders for the challenges of national development.

Nations are not only recreated through the youthful population, but, youth are often referred to as leaders of tomorrow.

The youth of a nation is the future of it.
