Alexei Morita: Try To Find Something You Love To Do And Combine That With Something Which Will Make A Difference (Adventurer, 1.4 Million Followers, Japan)

Alexei Morita Interview

Alexei Morita

My reels turn cliff jumps and street adventures into stories of courage and community, from Tokyo rooftops to giving Cuban kids their first roller skates. True bravery isn't just the stunt; it's the connections we make and the joy we share across every continent.

Q. Your reels showcase a world where cliff jumping, roller skating, and street adventure all blend together. Was there ever a risk or challenge you took on-camera that changed how you see courage or storytelling?

I always take the appropriate precautions in any risky activity as I know I am a role model for my younger audience. Many of my activities have a risk of injury so it is really important to take the necessary precautions (even though it might not be evident in the viral video content)

I often reveal the “behind the scenes” team I have to support the video such as ice/cold water rescue equipment, diver support.

Q. “Te amo” and your love for community are recurring themes in your posts. What’s a moment when this community spirit surprised or moved you, either online or through your Wheels for Havana charity?

This definitely hit me in Havana, Cuba where the spirit of the Cuban people has always amazed me. Even under severe economic hardship, the people I have encountered have always been surprisingly happy and hospitable. The children are so grateful whatever rollerblading gear I can get them. This is a big contrast to North American culture where the children are relatively spoiled and don’t fully appreciate all that they have.

Q. You switch effortlessly between Tokyo, Havana, and global cities, what’s a creative ritual or comfort item you carry across continents to make any place feel like home?

My skates- either ice or inline. That is my true common community that I connect with in each city I visit around the world.

Q. Your reels go viral across Instagram and TikTok. What’s one trend or video format you adore, and what’s one you secretly hope fades away?

I adore authentic crowd reaction videos.

I detest artificial AI created videos. It really detracts from the true artistry of making content.

Q. Has a comment from a follower or fellow creator ever sparked a new idea or changed the way you make your content?

Absolutely! Having mothers comment on the influence I have on young people always makes me rethink how and what I post. I total understand how influential I am with young people on social media so I never want to encourage dangerous activities or disrespectful behaviour

Q. What's a behind-the-scenes habit, routine, or ritual that helps you reset and recharge, especially when creative blocks hit or social media feels overwhelming?

Definitely need to take breaks from social media occasionally and just enjoy the moment without a camera. For me it is usually playing sports like ice hockey, or going boating on my own early in the morning to be in nature or to go hiking with my dog.

Q. What’s an adventure, skill, or unexpected side of yourself you haven’t shown in your Reels yet, but want to share soon?

Dancing, Music creation, Acting (I just appeared in my first feature film called “Youngblood” which have its theatrical release on March 6th, 2026)

Q. The “Wheels for Havana” project gives kids in Cuba access to roller skates. Can you share how that cause began and what it has taught you about the reach or power of social content?

I first moved to Havana to learn Spanish after high school. I took my father’s old rollerblades which were gathering dust in his garage to use as transportation. I met many kids who attempted rollerblading but they had only worn out wheels or no bearings etc, as there are no stores to supply replacement parts.

When I returned to Canada, I partnered with a skate shop called ShopTask who provided me with used skates and wheels to distribute. After that, I asked my Canadian followers to drop off their old skates and equipment to ShopTask so we can distribute.

Q. If you could teach your audience one small thing—about bravery, joy, curiosity, or giving back—through your daily content, what would that be and why?

Try to find something you love to do and combine that with something which will make a difference in someone’s life.

Creating positive vibes in my content keeps my audience happy and coming back for more.
